Scott Thornley
Ok - did a silly thing. I upgraded 10.0 RC1 to the latest version on the cooker as of yesterday. Now, practically everything in an X session is black. Background, window frames, most text, etc... The corners of windows are visible, as well as some icons. So I can see that X is running ok. I telinited down to run level 3, then tried a startx, startkde, startxfce with the same results. The X server runs, but nothing is visible. Text mode in the other virtual ttys is just fine. Suggestions on where to look for answers/clues? Regards, Scott
scoopy
Video Driver ? If you installed something like nvidia driver with previous kernel, you will have to install this again. Don't forget you will need kernel-sources too.
Scott Thornley
Nope - It uses the standard Savage driver. And, as mentioned, some bits and pieces are visible, but 99.5% isn't. So, X is definitely running, but somehow isn't turning most of the pixels of the LCD screen on. It looks like anything that is a bitmap or .gif or jpg is displayed properly, but window backgrounds, text, frames, etc... are all black. I suppose I could try and see what happens if I use the basic VGA driver... Regards, Scott
Lennart
That's exactly what I want to do. How did you do it?
