keesiewonder
To use http://urpmi.org/easyurpmi/index.php, I need to know my system's architecture. Choices included at urpmi.org include alpha, i586, ia64, ppc, x86_64. How do I figure this out? My processor is an Intel Pentium III Mobile CPU 1133 MHz. mtweidmann
Your machine is an i586. I thik the following is true: i586 = All the Pentiums, Celerons, K6s and Athlons ia64 = Itanium x86_64 = AMD Athlon64 and Opteron PPC = Power PC - Macs Alpha = Type of RISC
D'Espice
No, actually his architetcure is i686 i586 = original Pentium & Pentium MMX, AMD K6 & K6/2 i686 = Pentium Pro, Pentium II, III, K7 i786 = Netburst = Pentium 4 However these architechtures are downwards compatible meaning that any i686 processor will run i586, i486, i386, i286 and even x86 programs.
