I just installed a new hard disk in my system.

Mandrake 9.1. Pretty much default install.

new drive is 20 gb partition in 18 and 2 gb partitions

18 gb partition is ext3. mke2fs -j /dev/hdb1

it is reporting as 5.9 gb but when I use diskdrake to view the partitions, it shows the correct size. I have tried putting more than 5.9 gb of files on the drive and it says it is full when I get to 5.9.

Anyone got any ideas what I did wrong?

Thanks

Steve

Thanks, BVC,

That was the problem. When I looked at the partitions as you suggested instead of using diskdrake, I saw the problem.

I had to remove all of the partitions on the drive and repartition it. Now I have the full size of the drive available as an ext3 file system and shared via Samba for my wife's windows system to use as well.

Thanks again

Steve
