mtweidmann
My present computer is rapidly giving up the ghost, so I have order myself the parts to set up a shiny new Athlon64 which of course will run Mandrake once built. I had a quick look around the forum but there doesn't seem to much recent talk about the AMD64 version of Mandrake. Anyone who has/is using it, got any suggestions/warnings/etc? Also why is it that while the AMD64 version is on sale in the Store the ISOs on the mirros all say RC1?
ramfree17
I had a quick look around the forum but there doesn't seem to much recent talk about the AMD64 version of Mandrake. maybe because most dont have the means to buy a 64-bit system. and even if i have the money, the 64-bit processors havent reached this part of the world yet. :( ciao! BobGuy©
Well I found this 3 part review-howto. Hope it helps some. "Since the system would be designed to run Linux (Mandrake-Linux specifically), basing it around the AMD Athlon 64 was a farily obvious choice - there was a current Mandrake version for AMD64, AMD appears to be actively supporting Linux and, just to show that we all fall into lockstep behind him, Linus has been quoted as believing AMD64 to be the better technology. :)" http://www.warpedsystems.sk.ca/staticpages...040114201153299
