Ixthusdan
I recently did a job in which my customer had an older computer- Asus AV7, Matrox Mellenium 200, 256 MB PC100 RAM- who had been advised to purchase a new one in order to run winXP. The machine had win98 with problems. I convinced her to switch to linux (for a nominal fee!) and keep her perfectly good hardware. So, I am installing 9.2, and it is running like a sick snail on its way to the top of Mount Everest! Then, it began to have problems installing files, like the init rpm and the kernel rpm! These are my own cd's that I use, so i knew the media was good. Remembering the numerous complaints initially abiut 9.2, I decided to install 9.1 Smooth , fast install in about 20 minutes. As a result, I have come to the conclusion that the problem with 9.2 was the installer!! Could they have changed the installer that much? Anyway, this is a heads up. Perhaps a good experiment would be to install 9.1, and then do an upgrade to 9.2.
DragonMage
There have been many updates for mandrake's own tools for 9.2. It seems that updating those files may solve the problem. Of course, you can installing 9.2 from the unofficial 4 cd version found in mandrake.redbox.cz instead. Not only it has the updated kernel, but pretty much updated everything.. so no LG problem in there either.
