Darkelve
This is really disgusting. Even though I would not trust M. Robertson with my own mother, he really makes a good case for Linux in this article. Never imagined the man would actually be beneficial for Linux. Then again, Linux *is* what his business is all about. http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/51/34462.html This brings me to another point: I'm posting this link to keep people informed, but if everyone already reads The Register, then there's not much use to, is there? So, do you read 'El Reg'? Darkelve
Gowator
Hehe... I'm not sure its such a bad thing for linux. Certainly not a bad thing overall. Its certainly a good thing for CHOICE! Which is why I contriibuted $100 to the Swedish cause. (ahem) I also get free life membership, you see the financial incentive helps. Unfortunately for Mandrake.... I actually went to the stores to try and BUY 9.2 Powerpack. Buying direct is like a lottery.... But I couldn't buy the DVD edition ANYWHERE !!! I honestly tried.... lets face it I can download the 3 CD set for FREE or buy the 2CD set for 49 euro's. Given my last official purchase which turned out to be bad disks (again I'd looked for the DVD edition and failed) I decided to hold out. Well ... it just isn't possible to buy them in the shop...... So lets see.... FREE 3 disk set OR 49 Euro 2 disk set. 3 disk set will work and I'll burn myself so I know I can read the Cd's 2 disk set.... I don't.... 7Cd's ??? No way.... jeeze its like feeding a slot machine installing and once you have installed you use urpmi sources anyway!!!! So, having saved myself the Mandrake money (or more accurately, Mandrake having made the decision for me) I contributed to the swedish linux cause. spinynorman
I'm posting this link to keep people informed, but if everyone already reads The Register, then there's not much use to, is there? So, do you read 'El Reg'? I read it and post links occasionally. A lot of board users won't be visiting the Register or similar sites every day, so it's easy to miss something interesting. Keep posting! :) Edited December 11, 2003 by spinynorman
Gowator
Actually, someone once asked tyme why he posted news from other places. He came up with an excellent reason. You can actually discuss it miuch better on Mandrakeusers.org Try some of the topics we ediscuss here on slashdot and you'll see flames and abuse.... whereas the same stuff is dealt with here in a very civilised way. Gowator
Actually, I just noticed something very strange. The bonds is in Swedish Kroner, not Euro??? I chose the swedish one before France was an option btw.
