Hi... I am in school to study for networking.. and professor asked me to take packet sniffer and Intrusion Detection and Prevention System. I saw we have Airsnort and Snort from Mandriva.. So, I thought to download easier than outside... After I completed both softwares, but nothing showed ?? I have restart but still nothing??

I'm using KDE. How can I get into the windows manager menu
Try MCC by Tools --> System Tools --> Configure Your Computer... Then, Click "Boot" and Look for "Set up display Manager"...
-
Something I might missed?? When I downloaded from Mandriva reps, then restarted... I clicked Avant Window Navigator (Menu, Tools, More ---, it showed up, then disappear too quick... So, I tried with AWN Manager, and it works, and I made adjust and add launchers...
But it still disappear quick when I clicked Avant Window Navigator??

I've invited folks to help me with KDE (as I'm not a KDE guy) but as yet nobody bothered to even mail me back! Anyone?
Shoot... I would love to start?? Problem, I am not expert in linux yet... Which is why I just start my school in computer technology and hopefully build up my skills...
I will visit Mac4Lin and learn more.... Maybe I can pick up some to help you?? Thanks...

Thanks dude67.... I will try AWN tonight since I tried kxdocker, osdocker, and Kiba-dock, they didn't work right... So you got from mandriva reps or download from AWN own site??

Laptop:
Mandriva 2008.1
AWN
Oxygen Icons
Domino
BCReal Oxygen emerald
:)
Jaraeez, Mind my asking... You use KDE?? Will AWN work well in KDE althought it is for GNOME... I am now using Kiba-Dock, but I am frustrate and got same black rectangle on the bottom area where dock is.. I never thought of cover up with design top and bottom to look nicer..
By the way, your artwork look really nice! Otherwise, the weather at your home area is cloudy and shower?? Eh??

Many thanks... I find ./superkaramba, and deleted then remove LWP... I had re-download mirror from LWP 15.0 and it works..

When I success with Liquid Weather (LWP) until I change Crystal in somekind area and reseting it but stuck with "Loading, please waiting.. with Flower picture"....
I saw other place mentioned that I need to delete ./superkaramba.kba (something like that)... I am still little noob... How can I delete it?? I can't see where./superkaramba is??
Anyone have same experience with LWP before??
-
How about KDE??
-
Try "python-qt".
Wow, very simple!! It works... Thanks!
-
I was unable to get liquid weather 15.0 cuz I have no pyqt installed... I typed urpmi pyqt, pyqt3, and pyqt4, they said no package named _____??
which repos that have pyqt?? I have tons of them like main, contrib, plf-nonfree, plf-free?? Maybe one that I missed??

Thanks guys... Just to be sure... I was trying to pay attention on system more...

When I installed 2008.1... everything went smoothly until I open Ktorrent and use it... Then the RAM start to build up itself from about 700 MB to about 1936 MB out of 2048 MB...
I had either way to restart and/or shut down and then start up... The RAM start build up itself and reach about 1900's MB within 3 hours without open any application.....
I don't know if it is helpful, but the list showed in code "top" This one is at the beginning..... At the end, it come up 1900's MB but look the same on list??
I removed Ktorrent by "urpme" I thought it was conflict for some reasons... But seems nothing help??

I have same problem and it was success... Make sure you update your software sources like daniewicz mentioned.. Look at what I have been throughly, just to be sure right sources... networking problem...

HI,
Liquid Weather from http://liquidweather.net & the version is 14.8 as you stated. Can't remember now but I do believe it requires PyQT which you can obviously download first. Finally yes the networking shows both upload & download speed - you'll problably need to open the skz file in kwrite & maybe change the interface (eth0, wlan0, wlan1 etc) to your choice..
hth
Thanks, Yes, it needs PyQT to get it running... what is the minimum or latest version is it?? I saw one at PyQt-3.12-1mdk...
EDIT: I found the PyQT minimum 3.13 version to work with Liquid Weather... Thanks..

How about Quanta Plus... I think this is nice tool for designer?
-
Sorry if I am annoying... Thanks for your patient with my slow learner, as I success changed ./ = 15 GB and reduced SWAP = 616...
There is still freeze issues but I will stop other application that I added previous...
Thanks again..

Maybe the view on the left hasn't been properly refreshed? Try the refresh button, or navigate away and then back again.
As has already been said, 39% used is fairly healthy for a / partition (also note that / is not the same as /root). You've got over 4 Gigs of free space on that partition, that's plenty!
where can i refresh button??

Z600 is the name of the driver, which presumably works with several printers... ;)
Follow the links on the Open Printing page for more information.
I missed that part... It would be wonderful since I have X1270... I am going to set up share networking first with my wife using Mac....
Lenmark X1270, Should I follow Red Hat's process to install? There are several different ways, but which should I follow since I have Lenmark X1270 and am going to try and download the link above...
rajeshphadke, I hope your success? Please let me know...
Thanks

According to openprinting.org, you need to use Lexmark's own driver which is available here.
I wanted to be sure, when I clicked "here" on your link... it went to Lexmark Z604 product not Lexmark X1270??
-
Alright... I will figure out how to stop freeze... Maybe update system?? But thanks again...
-
Cool guys! I will do the text edit to remove GPU since it is no use in laptop... But I might add in for motherboard, I think that would be cool... I will look for it and then add in the one I tried to create...
Many thanks!!

Here is an information:
[root@localhost xxx]# df Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 7.7G 2.8G 4.5G 39% / /dev/sda6 81G 289M 80G 1% /home
sda1 is / and sda6 is /Home... I opened two media one for sda1 and sda6 and to compared them... You may noticed Themes folder in left side, and the right side is disappeared by remove in console (rm).... sda1 is still stuck at it while sda6, theme disappeared?? Why??
Is there any way I can clean up or delete from sda1??
Also, if I set up urpmi, will I be able to control and tell them to install in sda6 instead of sda1??
-
Thanks... I will check on that again... Here is an example....
I just installed karamba by MCC methods, and I save other features from KDE-Look.org like SMonitor.theme in karamba which saved /usr/share/karamba/SMonitor.theme, so is that saved in /home or ./??
Hope it saved in /home?? I am trying to reduce from ./ area because my laptop gets freeze when it become idle... I don't know if it is the reason that effect the problem... Obviously, /home has plenty of available storage left...
I think (THINK) that I noticed.......
( I will double check for better accurate tonight when I get home )
2.5 GB out of 7.5 GB in ./
Only 248K out of 81 GB in /home
