  1. Illogic-al, uh, no, it's being a pain-in-the-arse trying to figure it out. I I have done "/sbin/modprobe nvidia" and the answer is: Warning: Loading /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/Kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.0 will taint the kernel: non-GPL license-NVIDIA See http://www.tux.org/lkml/#export-tainted for information anout tainted modules /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/Kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o: init_module: Device or resource busy Hint insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ paramaters You may find more info in syslog or the output from dmesg Modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/Kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o failed Modprobe: insmod nvidia failed So, I did "dmesg" and whilst scrolling through it I found a line about "NVRM: register chrdev failed " and the line above it mestions loading the 1.0-6111 driver, but I am running this box on the default MDK driver; 4363. And an error line repeated about 25 times that my floppy drive has an IO error. Then the next 6 lines are: NVRM: pci_request_regions failed, aborting NVRM: the NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device (s)!! NVRM: No devices probed, aborting! NVRM: This often occurs when rivafb is loaded and claims the device's resources. NVRM: Try removing the rivafb module (or reconfiguring your kernel to remove NVRM: rivafb support) and then try to load the NVIDIA kernel module again. It seems to want to load the 6111 drivers but it thinks there is a rivafb module trying to load?? Do you think that being I am using the default drivers because of the 6111 problems that it might be confused?? Spiedra, your running an AGP card and bigger memory with MDK 10.0. I have a 64 meg PCI card and MDK 9.1 PP. Could that make a difference?? Later. Pepse.
  2. Since it seems no one knows how to cure this problem, could someone tell me what I have to edit and what the line should read to tell the system what not to look for. IIRC, it would say something about "xxxx=no pentium" or something like that. It won't hurt to try. Pepse.
  3. My post on that is listed here in Hardware under the heading "Things are crashing in KDE. Nvidia is the cause?". Altho I don't doubt that AMD's should be fine with Linux and nVidia, I think that maybe this will be the cause. After reading my other post maybe you will agree. I leave for work in an hour (time now is 1:05 PM CDT), but I will see if there is an answer before I go. Later. Pepse.
  4. For those familiar with my recent problem when I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from nVidia, I woke up this morning and I am 99.6% sure I know what the problem is. I am running an AMD chip. I remember when I first started running Linux 3 years ago there was some talk on this board about editing something somewhere to tell the OS that there is no Intel chip. I did a search for AMD and the searcher came back empty. I am sure enough that this is the problem because 6 months ago I downloaded a newer nVidia driver and had no major issues with it because then I was running an Intel chipped system. I await any reply. Later. Pepse.
  5. OK, folks, things are getting interesting now. For one, I have been in and out of "init x" so much I ain't sceerd of it no more. First of all I dumped the 6106 driver and downloaded it again and loaded it up and I had the same problems. So, I went back to nVidia's site to download an older driver and seen that they have "6111" drivers so I downloaded and installed them and the same old story. So, I got to thinking.......maybe this hard drive is so cluttered with bits and pieces of nVidia driver stuff that it is causing my problems. So, I grabbed a different hard drive and put MDK 9.1PP on it and went and downloaded nVidia 6111 drivers and "same problem", boots up until it gets to where the nVidia splash screen should appear and it goes to a konsole. So, I end up re installing the default drivers and reboot and when it is loading up KDE starts crashing just like in my regular hard drive (re-read my first post on this subject). So, is it possible my PNY/nVidia 64 meg PCI card is crapping out?? At this time I am definately at a loss for what the problem is. Towards the end of this week I will have a replacement Tyan mobo that has a working AGP slot and I would love to install my 128 meg nVidia GeForce FX 5200 AGP card but, I wonder if it will be worth it?? Opinions. Later. Pepse. Oh, I also downloaded and installed the nVidia 4363 drivers and I had the same results as with the 6106 and 6111 drivers.
  6. OK, John, I read the part about "reboot" vs "init 5" but being that me and "X" don't get along all that well I felt it would be safer to do "init 5" because I remember from earlier times that is what I was told. But, I will do "reboot" next time. Gowator, as for using the nVidia RPM for MDK 9.1 are you refering to what came with my PP CD's or am I to download an older driver from nVidia?? Such as 43xx? Also, I never could figure out how to copy and paste anything. Even when I ran whine-doze. It eludes me. I can say that by going to a Konsole and using the "lspci -v" command it gave me what I want to know but, as for copy and/or paste when I right click on da mouse and click copy or paste nothing happens. So, in a nut shell this should be the line you are asking about. 00:08.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce 2 MX/MX400] (rev b2) (prog-if 00 [VGA] ) If you are referring to what is in my PP CD's for nVidia here is what I found: Search results: NVIDIA_kernel-enterprise-2.4.21.0.13mdk NVIDIA_kernel-smp-2.4.21.0.13mdk-432 NVIDIA_nforce-2.4.21.0.13mdk-1.0-0248 NVIDIA_nforce-enterprise-2.4.21-0.13mdk NVIDIA_nforce-smp-2.4.21-0.13-1.0-0248.4mdk There you have it. Anything else I can provide before I go crazy and try this again let me know. Oh, one more thing people, when I get 10.0 PP I would like to get the DVD as it would have everything on the one disc but, is the DVD bootable or do I have to make ISO's of each disc off of the DVD?? Later. Pepse.
  7. John; 1 I downloaded the driver from NV's website. I will dump the one I have and download it again. 2. The installation procedure of Chris Z's is near identical to Kungfooya's; but I used Chris's installation last night. I printed out a copy so I could follow it precisely. 3. I make mention in my second to the last post about the change I made in "Modules"; was I right or wrong with the change I made?? 4. I entered init 3 and exited via init 5 as written in Chris' instructions. 5. In my last post I "summerized" what I did to make a long story short. 6. Should I remove the installed 6106 drivers?? Or just dump the one I have in a directory and redownload another?? If I remove it, how do you remove a ".run" file? 7. Yes I am aware how to exit vim, I know I did it as stated in Chris' instructions. 8. I will add the AGP change when I put in my AGP card. At the present I am using a PCI card as the mobo I am running has a bad AGP slot and I am trying to acquire another Tyan KT-A board. 9. I am still running MDK 9.1 PP. Later. Pepse.
  8. Well, that didn't work. Same as before, "init 3", load driver, edit XF86Config-4, "init 5", reboot, takes me to a command prompt. Go to XFdrake --expert go back to default driver. Do you think I should rerun MDK?? Hell, I'm at a loss right now. Pepse.
  9. Well the good news is that I reloaded the 6106 drivers and with the help of Chris z's link I was able to edit XF86Config-4. But when I was there and looked at "modules" I didn't have anything that said Load "dri" or Load "glcore" . The last line in modules read: Load "usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so", so I removed that line and replaced it with: Load "glx" # 3D layer" . I checked SECTION Device and it has "nvidia" . So, in modules was I correct to remove that last line and replace it with "glx" # 3D layer?? After rebooting nothing has changed. I still have various things crashing and GLXGEARS still won't work. Same error I mentioned earlier: Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0" Now for the scary part. I am going to shut down and see if it will work this time. Later. Pepse.
  10. Sorry people I didn't realize that when topics are moved that under software where I had it it showed No Views, so I thought I was being ignored Anyway, I agree with gowator that it seems that the newer the driver the more people have problems. I remember things were pretty good when I had MDK 8.1 And yeah NV should let the info go to GPL. In this way more people can look at the coding and try to get the bugs out. And I know from being on NV's site it is a question that comes up alot. Which usually coincides with the realease of a new driver and it needs the bugs worked out. I remember a fairly stable release that was late 3xxxxx or early to mid 4xxxx. I also have a 128 meg NV AGP card that I would like to put in but I recall there are a lot of problems with AGP and NV and Linux. But I will deal with that later. First I gotta get this problem worked out. Chris z, before I re-install I would like to know which version of NV I am currently running. Because when you read my post I state that I "apparently" re-installed the default NV GF2 DDR drivers. But then the way it is acting I might be running both or???????? And also, if I am still running 6106 should I remove it?? Or just re-install it?? Later. Pepse.
  11. Well, I downloaded and installed the latest nVidia driver "6106" with some tips from kungfooya; the same way I did it a long time ago: go to a shell, switch to SU/root, cd to nvidia directory, type init 3, then open the NVIDIA xxxxxxx.run, then type init 5, then go to xfree86. Well everything was fine until I tried to go to xfree86. It wouldn't go there. So, I had to shut down the computer and go to work. Got home started it up and watched it boot. Seen that it was in "init 5" and then the screen started to flicker and it went to a konsole. I logged in the console and then logged in as root and tried to go to "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4" and I was denied access. So, I went to "XFdrake --expert" and ended up changing back to the default nVidia GeForce 2 DDR driver. Rebooted the box and when it started loading KDE it crashed. The error was "kcminit crashed and caused a Signal 11....SIGSEGV" I closed the crashbox and it continued to load. Everything looked OK so I decided to go online but, changed my mind and I got another "crashbox" about "kppp". I went to a lonsole and to look at GLXGEARS and it stated " Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". I figured that, but no big deal. Exited the konsole and got another crashbox about "konsole". Went back in and it was OK. Then I rebooted the box and when it was loading the KDE stuff I got another crashbox: km server. Closed it and rebooted again. When it was loading KDE I got another crashbox "kpslash". I am almost afraid to shut down again but since my box is in the bedroom and I have a very noisy power supply I have to. Anyway if it helps I have a Tyan KT A mobo, 1.33G cpu, 512 megs of PC133 ram, NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX 400 64 meg PCI video card, and I am running Mandrake 9.1 Powerpack. Pepse. [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  12. Well, VeeDubb, most of what you have makes more sense. But, I am going to put down what I see you are saying. 1, download the link (did that), and (2) I put it in a directory called "nvidia". (3) ctrl-alt-F1 IIRC takes me to a shell and I am out of "X"? (4) SU & psswrd. (5) WHAT?? service dm stop ?? That don't ring a bell. (6) I understand that. (7) "Run the installer" that would be sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6106-pkg1.run . Right?? The options of -a and -n ; those types of things I can't grasp really how to or when to use such commands. (8) vi /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 . Make sure it shows nvidia not nv. I will try vi but, I usually can't get around it very well. I usually use mc. So, I would just change vi to mc and the rest of the command line would remain the same?? (9) service dm start . Again, WHAT?? I think you are saying with 5 & 9 is that I have to toggle something?? I am doing my very best to try not to screwup "X" again. But of course this is another version of how to install a driver and hopefully this won't kill me or my box. I await your reply oh great one :D . Pepse.
  13. I am confused, now. I would like to install the latest nv driver, but it looks like some things have changed on how to do it. Through here, that is. With what aRTee and null are saying I know is different that what I did before, I think. Things like "change innitab to initdefault3" , :edit your xorg.conf file ........", Initdefault?? Xorg.conf ?? "telinit3" , "telinit5"?? These just don't ring a bell. Is this the way to do it in MDK 10.0?? I still have 9.1 (can't afford 10.0 Powerpack, yet). For any that remember, I hate dealing with "X" but due to changing mobo's a few months ago and had to rerun 9.1 to accept the change in CPU's (was Intel, now AMD), I am back to the default nv driver. I downloaded the latest driver, but like I say I hate "X". It gets the best of me 97% of the time. So, yes my brain is numb and I want to make sure I do this right so I don't have to scream, hollar, and pull my hair out.java script:emoticon(':D'). I run a Tyan mobo with 512 megs of ram, a 1.33G CPU, an nVidias GeForce MX 400 64 meg PCI card, and MDK 9.1 PP. Later. Pepse.
  14. Well, it's been an-hour-and-a-half with the new power supply and I am having no problems. For starters I played LBeakout2 as I tried playing that with the original PSU and this time it didn't mess up. With the other PSU the system couldn't handle the fast action of LBreakout2. So, for what John said about a "subtle fault", I believe that was true. That could easily hide from what was probably a simple quick check. Gowater, no loss on my nVidia drive as it was about 6 or 7 months old. I need to upgrade but I plan on waiting until I get a new vid card. My CPU is an AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.33. I have always loved upgrading one way or another. Heck if I had a store-bought like my wife's HP I probably wouldn't use it that much. I'd be bored stiff B) Now all I gotta do is get the pinouts for the front USB and sound card jacks from their respected companies. Thanx for your opinions. There always helpful if for anything the future. Or until I screw something up and try to remember what was said. Later. Pepse.
  15. First of all I am sorry for not responding to this post of mine but, as usual I rarely if ever am notified of replies to my posts. Yes, I have that box checked. Anyway, just to bring everybody up to speed; the whole system was basically coming apart. I changed to an old 1 meg S3 Virge card and that acted up. Then it got to the point where I restarted the system and it wanted me to log into a console. So, I figured I would just re-do Linux and it would start with CD-1 and after I check US English it would not recognize my CDrom/DVD. Re-tried several times, no luck. So, I decided to plug in my emergency MDK 9.0 hdd, nothing better. It would not recognize hardware and/or various errors would show up (tried it 3 times). Then, I have a hdd with Fedora Core on it, so I hooked it up and it wouldn't get past the booting part either because it couldn't find X or floppy or DVD/CDrom. So, then I decided it might be either the power supply or the one and only brass screw that grounds the mobo to the chassis. Put in my old 100 watt ATX supply and it is working flawlessly. Also, I put in my 64 meg nVidia card and it is OK, too. Called the computer shop where I bought the tower and he had me drop off the power supply and when I stopped by Thurs. he said it checked out OK, but he gave me a new power supply to see if it works. Well shortly after I finish this post I will switch power supplies and see what gives, or doesn't. I will hopefully post back in an hour or so. Later. Pepse.
  16. I just bought a new tower for my system. It is a P4 tower with a 450 watt P4 (Pentium 4?) power supply. It has caused my Mandrake 9.1 system to act very strange. It has a tendency to take me to user log in screen; in otherwords "reboot or log in". When I get back to my desktop it gives me an error about my sound card. To wit: Sound server Informational Message Error while initializing the Sound Driver device, /dev/dsp can't be opened (Device or Resource busy) The sound server will continue, using the null output device. Also, I think this new power supply killed my nVidia GeForce 2 64 meg PCI card, so I put in an old nVidia TNT2 32 meg AGP card and after setting up XFdrake (I could only do that in a console; otherwise it would take me back to the log in screen when trying to do it in Mandrake Control Center) I tried to do the test and it wouldn't but gave me this info: Sutting down X Font Server: [OK] Starting X Font Server [OK] . xfs is not running at /usr/lib/libDrakeX/Xconfig/test.pm line 47 . Is it possible that I can't use this tower/power supply on a AMD Athlon chipped board?? "Cause there are 2 connectors that I don't have no place to connect. 1 looks like 1/2 of an AT power connector and the other is squarish with 4 connectors. Or is it possible that the AGP card is causing me problems?? When I had a chance to get farther into MCC I checked the hardware section and it lists the video card as Riva TNT2 Model 64 Bus: PCI Location on Bus 1:0:0 . I hope it ain't the case/power supply as I mainly got it for the 450 watt supply so I can get a 128 meg or 256 meg nVidia chipped AGP card for my mobo. My mobo is a Tyan Trinity KT-A with a 1.3 gig CPU, 512 megs of SDram. Oh, when in a console and after logging in as root I get this message: using diffrent removable device [/dev/hdb] for "Installation CD1 (x86) (cdrom1) , and basically the same message but diffrent CDrom disc numbers for all 7 CD's; as I have the MDK 9.1 PowerPack. Actually I am surprised the computer lasted this long without taking me back to re-log in. I am not going to spell check or review my post so as to not cause it to reboot. Pepse.
  17. Okay, I am running MDK 9.1 PowerPack and I use Mozilla 1.3. For about the last 4 to 6 weeks my spam filter is not working right. When I got MDK 9.1PP last fall and set up Mozilla and the spam filter everything was working very good. Eliminating about 85% to 90% of spam. Now for the last 4 to 6 weeks it is only eliminating about 30% to 40% of spam. I went to Mozilla's BB and posted this problem and I got 1 reply that stated that apparently some spammer got in and hacked my filter. I'll buy that. I replied as how to cure the problem. No reply 10 days later. Does anyone here have any ideas?? Later. Pepse.
  18. As for xcdroast vs. K3B, yeah it was a problem for me. I discovered with 9.1, xcdroast wasn't in the shall we say main group of software packages that get installed when installing MDK. But being that I have the power pack I discovered that xcdroast was on one of the CD's, so I installed it. I mainly installed it back then so I would have a cd burner I was familiar with until I got used to K3B. Well, what I discovered is that let's say I burned a CD in xcdroast and then go to K3B to burn something I would have to reset my preferences. Then of course later if I went back to xcdroast to do something I would have to reset the preferences in 'roast again. So being I am more familiar with 'roast I dumped K3B and haven't had any problems since. And as far as the other 4 burners that came with 9.1, Eclipt roaster is the only one that I can't set up, but that's OK. I might just try Xine again to see if it screws up anything. I do like it better than Mplayer. Later. Pepse.
  19. First of all, I gotta mention aRTee your reply was the first email-notification I received from this board in about 3 months. I went into Konsole and looked around and decided that I would first try MCC again and see what would happen. I was able to remove Xine with no other items being lost except Totem (it was removed along with Xine). I now remember that when I went to remove Xine a couple days ago, I checked the first line on the search results so it would put a checkmark on everything Xine. Of course that included xinet. So, I just removed everything but xinet and everyhting is OK, and then some. Being that I haven't re-installed Xine yet I went to Mplayer for laughs (it has never worked for me before, only kmplayer) and now it works. So, I think it must clash with Xine like K3B does with X-CD-roast. I removed K3B so X-CD-roast would work. So, I am thinking that I might be better off without Xine for now. Maybe MDK 10.x will have that problem resolved by the time I get it. And when it gets released this May I am going to get the PowerPack again. With MDK 9.1 it is the first time I got the PowerPack, and it is worth every extra penny they charge. So, just in case you would suggest downloading the basic set from MDK home, nevermind, I'll wait for the PowerPack release. So, I appreciate the help aRTee and pmpatrick. Many Thanx. Pepse.
  20. OK, I did the upgrade and it was quick and smooth. Now that kernel can talk to the right CPU. If it removed the nVidia driver I am not sure, as I will have to go thru my notebook and see if I made a note on how to check to see what driver I am running. Anyway, as for removing all things Xine, that looks like a bad idea, as it would remove (I think) just about everything pertaining to KDE, Gnome, file-roller, eog, fam, gdm, gedit, gdm, etc., etc. So, it looks like I would have to re-install MDK in order to get rid of the Xine problem. I think I'll look at installing Totem for now, afterall. Later. Pepse.
  21. That is why I asked. I thought that more than likely it would remove all RPM's, but had to ask to be sure. As for changing mobo's, the one thing I think it did is it affected my video driver. I think. About 2 days after the upgrade every so often my monitor would blink out for about 2 seconds. It did it rather often at first. Now it is only 2 or 3 times a day. Either that or my 2 year old vid card is dying. Now when I "upgrade" it will clean out my nVidia driver, too, right?? I am talking about the one I downloaded from nvidia. I am not worried about it because I should get the latest from them; also I should get gutsy and see how many probs I will have putting an AGP nVidia chipped card in my mobo. I am also aware that altho Linux can conform to changing mobo's and CPU's better than billyware, it ain't totally right until I put the CD1 in to set it right. I still am having a problem of not getting replies sent to my addy, even tho I checkmark that box, and in fact it now shows that I am supposedly getting email notifications sent to me, and I didn't get any otherwise I would have answered sooner. This has been a problem on this board for about 3 months. And I do check my "spambox" whenever I get any emails. I am running Mozilla 1.3. Anyway, I'll check back sometime Sunday eve and see if there is anything relevent before I "Update" Thanx for the suggestion. Pepse.
  22. I am wondering if I go to MCC and to the remove software part will I be able to remove all software I downloaded from PLF as well as what came with my distro?? I need to redo Xine. A while back I downloaded just about everything I could from PLF pertaining to Xine so that I could view a video that is on a music CD. Well ever since, when trying to run Xine, it loads up and then quits. When I go to root is says: This is xine (x11 gui) - a free video player v0.9.22. © 200-2003 The Xine Team. Built with xine library 1.0.0 (1-rc0a) Found xine library version 1.0.0 (1-rc3a). XServer Vendor: Mandrake Linux (Xfree86 4.3, patch level 5mdk). Release: 40300000, Protocol Version: 11, Revision 0, Available Screen(s): 1, using 0 Depth: 24 -[ xiTK version 0.10.5 [XMB]]- -[ WM type: (EWMH) KWIN {KWin} ]- Display is not using Xinerama. main: all available video drivers failed. And I figure the best way out of this is to remove all Xine drivers as well as libxxx drivers and start over and just install the Xine software and libxxx software that came with the MDK CD's. Of course I know that it will take me to PLF for some software but that's OK; I think. Now I know some of you will mention Mplayer; I had that up until about 2 hours ago. It suddenly decided to not work so I went to MCC to get software for it and when connecting to PLF it had a connection problem and asked if I wanted to cancel and I did and it mentioned something about file cleanup and it did and I now don't have Mplayer either; but I'll deal with that after I get Xine running, I hope. Also, some will mention Totem, and possibly other players, but those won't cure my main problem of cleaning up Xine and libxxx. I am a bit puzzled as to why Mplayer quit; unless it had something to do with changing mobo's. I went from an Intel 600mhz to a AMD 1.33 gig. Same brand of mobo. Anyway I am running MDK 9.1 PowerPack. An LG DVD ROM, and 512 megs of SDram. Thanx. Pepse.
  23. Just another addendum to the main part of this topic. I recently changed mobo's; from a Tyan Trinity 400 to a Tyan Trinity KT-A. The main diff is that the Trin 400 is Intel and the KT-A is AMD. The only thing I changed was the mainboard/cpu. I posted this on another site because I've been having probs posting on this one. Anyway, everything is running like there was no change, except maybe my nVidia card. If this post reply goes thru then I'll try again to post my vid card problem. BUT, the one thing mentioned on the other board in reference to Linux and changing mobo's; think about Knoppix and those other "Boot from CD OS's". Those OS's gotta check everything in a mobo and get it to recognize in order to work. In my board's case the kernel has to recognize and then compensate for my changing makes of CPU's. And it seems to have accepted it pretty good. And being that I am half crazy I did not back up anything. I guess that after reading about the Knoppix thing I just felt damn confident that it would work okay. It went so smooooth it still scares me. But then I am getting to respect Linux more and more as the years go by. OK its only been 3 years but still I feel better about this OS than Billyware. My 4 cents (US  ). Pepse.
  24. I think my nVidia MX400 PCI is failing me and all I have laying around is an nVidia TNT 2 32meg AGP card. I am VERY apprehensive about running AGP cards in Linux as there always seems to be problems with AGP. The situation now is that I upgraded my mobo from a Tyan Trinity 400 w/Intel 600 mhz CPU to a Tyan Trinity KT-A running a AMD 1.33 Ghz skt A chip. Everything else from the old board is on my new board. At first I was leery about changing mobo's but it surprised me that it worked; smooothly. Anyway since that change last Tuesday the only 2 hiccups I have are the video card and full modem. And I am not sure if my video problem is the card going bad or something with my system, because I went from Intel to AMD. The situation is that every so often the screen winks out, and I know it is not the monitor. Plus last Saturday I was gone for about 10 hours and I shut the monitor off before I left and when I came back and turned the monitor on the screen was a jumbled mess of streaking colors like a bad choice of drivers when setting up "X". I did a hard reboot and everything came back up like nothing ever happened. So, I actually have 2 dilemmas: Is the kernel freaking because of the CPU change or is it my video card. The card is about 2 years old. It is a PNY. I am running MDK 9.1 PowerPack. And if it is thought to be my vid card then we bring that issue of AGP hassles. In the near future I plan on getting an MSI/nVidia 128 meg AGP card, but like I say the endless hassles with AGP makes me leery. Pepse.
  25. Pepse

    VCD problem.

Sorry to reply months later but for some reason I didn't get an email to your reply and figured noone answered it. But then Monday I posted about another issue and it isn't even on this site. Anyway, I downloaded all the Xine stuff I could and loaded everything I could except for " libspeex0.99-1.0-0.rc3.1plf " and " libspeex.so.1 " as I couldn't find them in PLF's website nor was there any reference when I googled the first one. But libspeex.so.1 comes up for RDHT and Suse. But now I've got a bigger problem, when I click on XINE it starts to load then quits. It is a different screen than what comes with MDK 9.1. Also, I downloaded some " libxxxxx's" to accomodate some of the Xine rpms. Yes I also downloaded win32 and xanam. So, the problem is is I don;'t know what killed my Xine. As I mention I run MDK 9.1 PowerPack. A 600mhz pentium CPU ona Tyan mobo with 512 megs of ram and an nVidia 64 megs PCI vid card. Pepse.
