  1. I clicked on the PCLO link just to see where it went

    Look what some Jerk wrote:

    hacked by BlackCodeWriter

Hacked By BLACKCODEWRITER . you guys , you should try to secure your webs orelse you will be hacked again. I didnt do anything to your DB or forums or..... . but next time will be diffrent . bye .

Note: I'm more likely to shut the site down than continue getting hacked and find fix after fix for PHP-Nuke. Maintaining Nuke code and trying to secure it is far too time consuming to keep up. If there is a volunteer who is skilled with fixing PHP exploits and who can shoe horn in our current configuration to a current release of PHP-Nuke (we have non-standard forums, which break the standard upgrade), we'd be interested in doing business with you. As it stands right now, these antics only lesson the chances of this site remaining. -- TheDarb

Aw man what a total jerk...makes me yern for a little private interview with the hacker....

Hey hacker, check this out...it could be you :hanged:

  2. Here is what I am running as a dedicated system under MDK 9.2:

MOBO: Asus A7V8X-X, 1 x AGP 8x, 6 PCI, Realtek 10/100 Mbps ethernet (built in), VT8233 [AC97 Audio Controller, built in]

    Memory: 512MB ram (PC2700):

    CPU:AMD 2600+XP (333MHz FSB)

    CD Burner: SONY CD-RW CRX160E

    Video: GeForce4 MX 420

Not top of the line, but it functions just fine for my needs

  3. errr ... it's my design ...

    AND YOU CAN'T USE IT

    :evilmod:  :evilmod:  :evilmod:

unless a respectable shirt is designed for me :D

"I'm an admin at MandrakeUsers.org, and all I get is this stoopid shirt"logo.png

Correction: you get the one with the logo "you designed", not the new and improved version...that one goes to Scoopy... :cheeky:

As for me...I had my 3sec of fame...best I could hope for... :screwy:

  4. and probably asking scoopy and cjc for permission to use the logo and so forth.

No need to... I consider it gpl'd, gnu'd, and open source for use by board members and other official board biz.

It's Scoopy's design, free and clear, I just tweaked it ...so if he says it's free and clear...it's free and clear (glp/gnu)...

  5. Alright, I'm a total idiot

There are no idiots here, no dumb mistakes, no stupid questions...they do not exist, we forbid them

But there are a whole bunch of really smart, clever, nice Linux users that will help you no matter what the problem, in order to spread the word of Linux...

Welcome to our version of Utopia... :cheesy:

  6. 0. Get a big-ass heat sync, and don't skimp on the thermal goop in between

Too much thermal paste is not a good thing. Thermal paste is designed to fill in the gaps on the bottom of the heat sink and top of the CPU. Too much paste acts as a thermal barrier...

Besides it gets squished out and just makes a big mess.

  7. There may be other issues here

I just rebuilt my linux box with an Asus A7V8X-X MOBO, which is capable of running 200 to 400 MHz FSB (PC1600-PC3200 DIMMS).

I'm running an Athlon 2600+ with 333FSB, this particular CPU chip will ONLY run with PC2700 or faster DIMMS, but only at run at 333MHz FSB. (Asus built a warning into the bios setup about using slow DIMMS with this processor)

Not being an OC type I don't go beyond the ratings...

I hate the smell of burning Silicon in the morning...it smells, it smells like the start of a very long day...

As for the 266 FSB... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_side_bus

  8. For what it's worth...

What Nvidia driver version did you install?

I am running an GF4 420 card (PNY)...

It was working just fine with Version: 1.0-4496 Nvidia Driver (MDK9.2)

I updated my Kernel to the latest and figured WTH, I'll update my Nvidia driver to the newest Version: 1.0-5328...

Well, I got exactly the same result as "aze", and my XF86Config-4 looked just like his. (no different than when it was the previous nvidia driver version)

I went back to Version: 1.0-4496 driver...and all is just fine and my video is back as before.

Seems to me when I tried using Version: 1.0-4363 the same thing happened.

  9. Excite has free webmail, if you want POP you have to pay ($20US/yr). (their webmail forwarding of messages really sucks if it's an HTML based e-mail....plain text works just fine).

As for yahoo, webmail is also free, for POP access you also have to pay ($29.99US/yr).

    How's the new job?

  10. For what it is worth...

I contacted Scoopy some time ago about the background and the logo needing something to make one word stand out. Scoopy was very kind and challenged me at the same time (said I "had to use GIMP"). Not wanting to re-invent the wheel I asked Scoopy for his native GIMP files for the logo and backgound. Being a true gentleman and one who understands the word "share" (another topic but one that sets this board well above others, the ability of members to share their knowledge...)

All I did was some simple playing (okay, I had to read the GIMP manual). I sent Scoopy the first versions of my trial and error for some feed back...suddenly the modifications are approved by the Dev Team...Without Scoopy and Paul...well, the Logo would not have come from my hands...Team Effort...many hands make the job easier...as long as there are not too many to spoil the broth...

The logo is indeed better...but...there is still room...

Bottom line, people here are really nice...long live this board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Now on start up linux give me options which os to boot to and they both work ok

, After reading so many posts of installing a dual boot this seems like it has all gone to easy ? has it ? or have i done something wrong ?

Sometimes life is just good...accept it. :jester:

I have MDK9.2 (power pack) installed on my Sony laptop along with Windblows XP :woot:

  12. Of course I would hate to see this person anally raped in prison,... or would I ?!?!?!

    Master JaseP:

Do not your students require a live punching bag, with which to hone their Tang Soo Do techniques?

Master, I humbly submit this person would better suit your class than a PA prison.

Many pardons Master, for my evil thoughts, TSD is a pure art form, please leave the scum to us TKD devotees.

  14. I started with Corel ('cause Wordperfect was bundled with it), but it was a loooonnnggg install (fully automated no "expert") took hours. I even bought the upgrade...jerks then dumped it.

Fine, I'm trying for free before I buy the next one. DLed Mandrake and RH, preferred Mandrake...works fine for my needs, wants and desires...the best? Maybe not but then I'm not a computer person...

Somewhere along the conversion path from Corel to MDK I found the users group (old board) liked what I saw inthe way of help and decided to stay. This board tolerates new users and slow learners, yet satisfies the advanced users as well. So why go anywhere else?

  15. Yes, boot to console>run drakconf>--uninstall nvidia>reinstall nvidia. This is being technical. All you really have to do is edit XFree86Config-4. Worked for me and I went from GF2 MX200 PCI to a GF4 MX 440SE AGP. Agp and the new card is detected and working. It's just a file and the driver is a driver, as long as you installed without compiling. If you compiled, uninstall and recompile for the new card. Heh, I compiled on debian and haven't recompiled and all is well. No biggy.

No need to do the uninstall, if you download NVIDIA's latest driver. The install routine run from console, detects and removes the old driver, followed by installation of the new driver. Then you can edit XFree86Config-4
