I am having the same problem as http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/post-147825.html but I have two monitors. I have tried manually editing the configuaration file but each time I try to launch X after it won't. My graphic cards are a trident 9660 and a Geforce2. I have a 15 and a 17 inch monitor. I am having the problems with the 17 inch monitor. If you need more information please ask. [moved from Software by spinynorman] [Edit] After running the display manger many times it has corrected itself.

I have just started using it. So far I have got it to run WIn98 on Mandrake 10.0. I have a few small problems but otherwise it runs fine but a little slow.

I need to install XPde for my parents on their computer so that they can use Mandrake Linux(Which I installed ofr them). THe problem is they have no clue how to use KDE and need something alot closer to Windows. I decided on XPde becuase I could find any better ones. I am trying to install VMware 4.5.2 Build 8848 on Mandrake 10.0 with 2.6.3-7mdk kernel. I have installed Vmware and when I try to run it is says to run vmware-config.pl. I run it and then it says that there are no matching vmmon modules for mmy running kernel and if I would like to compile one. I hit yes and then it asks me for the location of a compiler. I use the defult and then it asks me for the locaton of my C header files. I can't find these files and I am having trouble with the new one I compiled(See one of my other topics). I need to know how I can get the headers or get my other kernel working.

I mange to make my dads winxp computer look like a mac but what I want now is to run the programs(web browsers mostly).

A mac is a bit too much for my budget right now otherwise I would.

I get the following error message each time I try to boot the kernel I compiled. I compiled the kernel (2.6.3-16) on my computer following instructions I found on a website. How can I fix this problem?

I was wondreding about running Mac OS X on my pc. So far the only ways I have fou are to use PearPC, wait for CherryOS to come out or wait for SoftPear. Does anyone know of any other ways and which way would be the easiest.
-
I have installed a patched kernel but the installer still says that the kernel is not supported.
-
There are no precompiled kernel on the site for Mandrake 10, the generic ones don't work and I don't know how to aplly a patch file. I download 4.5.2 but I haven't gotten it installed yet. I need the kernel source but can't find it on my system and I don't want to upgrade my kernel if I can aviod it. I tried it but I keep getting an error. Some package requested cannot be installed: flightgear-0.9.5-2mdk.src (due to unsatisfied openal-devel) do you agree ?

I'm for games I am mainly looking at Flight Simulators. I have Ms Flight Sim 98, 2004 and Combat Fs and Combat and 2004 don't run under cedega but the website doesn't say anything about 98. If I can't run them then I will need to find some good ones to run on Linux. As for OSes I have the Win95, 98, NT 4.0, 200 and xp installion disks. I am curntey dual booting Xp and Madrake but I find it is a bit of a hassel to reboot all the time. If I cann't run my games then I also who like to run MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver and Corel Painter.
