  1. hi,

    i want to use WS-806 CDMA usb modem to connect to the internet but doesn't work i read a tutorial and this is what i did:

    First i loaded the cdc_acm module and add to the /rc.d/rc.local to load at boot next i did /sbin/lsusb:

    Bus 002 Device 004: ID 04f2:b016 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd

    Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0951:1607 Kingston Technology

    Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    Bus 007 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    Bus 006 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    Bus 005 Device 002: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc.

    Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    Bus 004 Device 002: ID 08ff:2580 AuthenTec, Inc.

    Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

    this is the usb port with which the usb modem is attached:

    Bus 005 Device 002: ID 10c4:ea60 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc.

    then i created a file Cygnal_Integrated.options and put it in the /etc/modprobe.d to laod at boot time, this is the file contents:

    alias usb:v10C4pEA60* usbserial

    options usbserial vendor=0x10c4 product=0xea60

    after reboot i did:

    dmesg | grep usb:

    usbcore: registered new interface driver usbfs

    usbcore: registered new interface driver hub

    usbcore: registered new device driver usb

    usbcore: registered new interface driver hiddev

    But after all that the wvdialconf didn't get connect to the modem and this is the errors:

    #wvdialconf wvdial.conf

    Editing `wvdial.conf'.

    Scanning your serial ports for a modem.

    Sorry, no modem was detected! Is it in use by another program?

    Did you configure it properly with setserial?

    any one can help please?

  2. Do you have an appropriate mount point? "mount /dev/hdb5 /mnt/hdb6"

    Is hdb6 one of your former mount points? The extended partition number does not get mounted; only the logical partitions are mounted.

    yes /mnt/hdb6 exitst, and /dev/hdb6 was one of my linux partitions conataining all my important data, i run the tesdisk tool and it shows the only the /dev/hdb1 is present and other partition is deleted,

    * is for bootable partion and D for deleted:
    sk /dev/hdb - 80 GB / 74 GiB - CHS 155061 16 63

    Use Left/Right Arrow keys to CHANGE partition characteristics:

    Keys A: add partition, L: load backup, T: change type, P: list files,
     Enter: to continue
    EXT3 Large file Sparse superblock, 1052 MB / 1004 MiB

  3. madriva only can recognize the /dev/hda1 and /dev/hdb2 when i mount with:

    mount /dev/hdb2 /mnt/hdb2

    with ls i can see the directories in hdb2 but when want to open with:

    cd /etc

    the ouput is :

    bash: cd: etc: Not a directory

    these was two primary partitions and there is extended partion with 5 more logical partitions with want to mount get the error:

    [root@localhost mnt]# mount /dev/hdb6 hdb6

    mount: special device /dev/hdb6 does not exist

  5. hi,

    i run mandriva 2007 with apche, postfix, dovecot and squirrelmail for my mail server, i change my hostname to example.com, but when send the mail from my local smtp server, postfix send as:

    user@localhost.example.com

    that sould be user@example.com, these are some of my configuration files:

    /etc/posfix/main.cf:

    # User configurable parameters

    mydomain = example.com

    myhostname = example.com

    inet_interfaces = all

    mynetworks_style = host

    #delay_warning_time = 4h

    /etc/postfix/main.cf.dist:

    myhostname = example.com

    mydomain = ecample.com

    myorigin = $mydomain

    inet_interfaces = all

    mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost, $mydomain

    relay_domains = $mydestination

    /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:

    ServerAdmin root@localhost

    ServerName example.com:80

    /etc/hosts:

    127.0.0.1 exmaple.com localhost

    202.102.185.56 example.com example.com

    my serve is not always online so i need the first line in /etc/hosts to start the local web server offline.

    any one can help please?

  6. How come the ping command to 127.0.0.1 worked two posts ago, and now it doesn't??? :unsure:

    Are you saying that now neither ping 127.0.0.1 nor ping localhost works at all?

    that was not from manriva 2007, i posted in mistake then i remove that, i can't ping the localhost in mandriva 2007., this is the error:

    # ping 127.0.0.1

    connect: Network is unreachable

  7. Normally we notice and put them in mods holding, if we realise they are duplicate - as your problems with apache and localhost were.

    As I saw this post, I deleted your duplicate for you.

    ok thanks for that, that was mistake i posted double then i search My Control and My Assistance to delete them but didn't find the way, my problem connecting to the localhost didn't slove, could any one help in this topic:

    problem connecting to localhost

  8. and this is the /etc/hosts:

    # cat /etc/hosts

    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs

    # that require network functionality will fail.

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

    ::1 localhost.localdomain localhost

  9. thanks for replies, the problem is not with the intenet, i can open the web sites, but the only problems is with the local web server this is the output of ifconfig:
