Ok, man I have been working on this for a whole day now and no matter what I do I can't get this thing working. I have been trying to compile 2 things since yesterday evening and I keep having the same problem. I have done everything I can think of, I have read every forum, and tried everything but I still get the same error every time I try a /configure. checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation! I have everything I need installed it looks like. Qt3, Qt3 Devel. I have tried everything I can think of, so I am here asking for any suggestions. Thanks ahead of time. Jason

Don't know, but I do know I can boot sorta fine (besides a stall at GDM login) with kernel 2.6.7-1.mm.7mdk. That is the one I am currenlty booting to, although that one problem with that, but that is x related not kernel related like my bigger problem.

By the way my old kernel was 2.4.26-1mt.

OK, I let it sit at the "Doing alsactl to restore mixer settings [OK]" for 45 minutes already and nothing. Do you think whatever it is starting next is having the problems? I says the alsactl restore mixer settings is OK like it completed that. This happens on the latest Kernel. I can still boot to the old one, it just sits for 5 minutes before it actually logs in to KDE.

Yes I am using 10.1. I have given it what seem like 10 minutes, but you know what I got time. Let me try it again. See what we get. BRB

Okay, I did my first kernel upgrade since I have been using linux today. I just used urpmi to get and install the kernels. (maybe I messed up doing that) I have installed now Kernel 2.6.7-1.mm.7mdk and the newest for mandrake (this one I installed by rpm) 2.6.8.1.12mdk. If I boot up to 2.6.7 it boots wonderfull. I get to GDM and login, this is where it sits for about 5 minutes then it logs into KDE just fine. If I boot up using the 2.6.8.1.12mdk it will hand on the "doing alsactl to restore mixer settings" it even shows OK beside it in the verbose mode but it will not go any further. Any suggestions to either one of these problems? [moved from Software by spinynorman]

thebrix and most the mirrors on it seem to work for me. They aren't full repositories though, they are just custom built rpms for certain apps.

Do you have main, contrib, jpackeg, and plf? Another thing you might want to do is add 2 off each. I have 2 mirrors set up for each of mine. Also make sure that you do a urpmi.update -a, this will update the list files so everything is current.

You may need to update again. I didn't have that problem when i upgraded. I didn't have the looping login problem, but I installed GDM which fixed that.

I have them as mirrors. I think yesterday there was some problems connecting just because I got some errors. But usually I connect ok.

You did a new installation because of that? I fixed it without a problem. Basically boot to console to drakconf, change your Display manger.

Weird Also happens when I right click on Taksbar>Add to Panel>and just graze my mouse over application. No over the first one Applet, but over the second one Application.

No errors, thats what I am trying to say. It is actually loads when I do that. I can do anything. Until I click on the Mandrake Star. Then bam it disappears. I can slide it back and forth. I can click on my applets. Its only when I click the star(K Menu) that it happens.

Well, I updgraded to 3.4 last week sometime. Still having a few issues, so I decided to see if there were any new updates. I did urpmi.update -a. I have Thacs, and I did a urpmi kdebase. It fould a few packages, downloaded and installed them. I then restarted x. When I did this everything came up fine. But when I click the little star on my taskbar, it disappears and I can't get it back. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Ok.... Yes /home/<user> is mounted. Tried changing password. I can't login as the stated user on the console that is the problem. I can with root and another temp user I have created. It is just one user. I type "login" then I type <username>, then it ask for password. I put that in and hit "enter." It acts like it accepts it, but it just hangs there. And only on that user. Any other user is fine.

No, you don't understand. I was trying to fix this bug. I am not booting up to a GUI login ATM. I was fixing it at the time, when it messed up. I am just booting to my console, then typing my username then password. After I type my password. It doesn't login, it just sits there. Now on root and a new account I created it will login fine. Then I just type KDE. But I really prefer to get into my old profile since I have it setup up just like I like it.

Ok, in the last few days I have upgraded to 10.1 and KDE 3.4. I had everything working pretty well beside the KDM login. Which I found out was an issue. I did the: urpme mdkkdm urpme kdebase-kdm urmpi mdkkdm as suggested in the long Topic on the KDE 3.4 upgrade. As of right now I just have my system booting to the console and I loging and type KDE. I can login as root and go into KDE just fine. But when I try to login under my normal username, I type my username then it ask for password. I put my password in but it just sits there and never logs in. I know something I did above caused this because before I did that I had no problem logging into console and doing KDE under my normal username. Anyone have any suggestions? I mean I can create a new account I guess, and do a chown on my /home/username folder. Or maybe this wouldn't be the best route. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, it does and thats my problem. This is really frustrating because it works fine on my POS and horrible and this brand new fast Dell.

OK, At work, I had an extra computer laying around so I installed Mandrake on it. The computer is a POS, Celeron, originally came with Win98 installed. Mandrake ran like a dream. Well, today we got about 40 new Dells in, so I grabbed one. I was like if Mandrake runs good on that POS I can't wait until I get it on one of these. I installed, booted up, and man..... Runs good, but resolution is freaked up. Now, on that old computer I ran at the 1024x768, if I try that on this one, it is so Freaking big you can't see anything. So I dropped it down to 800x600, which is crappy. Does anyone have a fix for this, or suggestions? I googled around for some answers, and found some indication that there is an issue with the Intel 865 graphics controller and Mandrake 10. HELP PLEASE!!!!

I believe Java does, but VM doesn't.
