Actually the X600 is supported - just not out of the box. ATI Website That doesn't mean that setting it up will be easy though. If you are interested you may want ot check out a tutorial on setting up ATI cards on Mandrake 10.1 here I hope this gives you a little direction. As all of use ATI card owners know - ATI does not support linux very well at all.

Follow-up Sort of answered my own question - I was able to alias postfix and root to the email address that I wanted. (If previous msg was regarding alaises - please disregard my last question) Anyway - just to make things interesting - one more question. I trying access this new local mail account through kmail and I keep getting the error "could not lock /var/spool/mail/user" and I do not understand why? I know this may seem a little convoluted, please bear with me. Thanks.

Thanks Dyslexic, I think the procmail file is better than the .forward file and will consider this. Anon, I do have webmin installed and understand what you mean but I cannot seem to find where I would change that setting you mentioned. Is it under servers>postfix config or under system>users? I use webmin quite a bit...but there are so many options. Appriciate clarification. Cheers

I am trying to get postfix to forward my root email to an outside pop3 account and it does not seem to be working. I have placed the .forward file in root's home (/root) and added the email address that I want it sent to (someone@somewhere.com) and then chmod 0600 the .forward file, but still all system mail (including other local users mail) is being sent to postfix@mymachinename.com...I am stumped. No net resources I located could help me on this one. As usual, thanks in advance. :D

This is actually a photo of a tattoo that I have on my right arm. It was tricky to take the digital photo so it was clear enough to edit in da gimp. Larger version shows more detail. The tattoo is mostly solid black and the extra texture was added by me. I like it.

I have been using urpmi for a while now and ever since I started I have never been able to get the contrib hdzlist to download. It always hangs at retrieving hdzlist... Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution.

If you are not receiving any errors at all, it sounds to me that it might be a problem with the config file that X is trying to read. I am assuming that you have run fglrxconfig as root. After this refer to step # 5 here and read very carefully. If you are still having trouble I will look into it further. Cheers.

Found solution. Do not know what this does but, just to close this topic. In the file associations menu where you tell mandrake to open .htm or .html files with your browser ( in my case opera ) append %u to the end of the command. eg: /usr/bin/opera %u This eliminates the problem and everything works great again. Does anyone know why this is?

Okay I have tried all the suggestions above and it seems that everything is working okay. Device mounts and unmounts at my request and fstab lines are not being deleted anymore. I will try that as well, though I fear that it is a ongoing problem with 10.1 OE.

That is interesting because I had heard the opposite - that setting the bios to detect devices made it easier for mandrake to see them. I will turn it off and see what happens. Thanks.

I have been having some trouble with mounting a usb drive in mandrake 10.1 - as I have read this is not uncommon. My question is : Why does Mandrake delete lines that I place into my fstab? I set up my usb device and it works fine, I then remove the device, and when I go to use it the next time it says there is no entry in fstab or mtab for it?? It is a line that I manually entered and not one that MCC entered on my behalf - this seems very arbitrary to me. This would be like Mandrake not finding a CD in your cdrom drive and then removing that line from your fstab file. Very frusrating indeed. Any ideas?

Very odd problem has started to occur - whenever I load my bookmarks, regardless of what browser is default, it seems to try to load the page from cache? It is really annoying and I am wondering if anyone else has this same type of issue or has a solution? When I try to access a bookmark, this shows up in the address bar, sometimes the page does come up other times not. file://localhost/var/tmp/kdecache-jeffrey/krun/5009.0. I think the problem is between Mandrake passing the link to the browser since following bookmarks from within a browser works perfect in all the browsers I have installed. Nothing critical, but annoying none the less. Idea's? Jeffrey
