I would say Gnome, it's easy to setup GTK themes, it's clean and not confusion ( I find KDE confusing :P )
But as Iphitus said it's all about personal preferences. If I was you I'll take a look at the screenshot contests (October, November and December) to get a feeling. Also try the diffrent Desktops before settling down.

Not to suck it up, but I personally think bvc should get some kind of medal or something. All the stuff he made/makes to Gnome is just top notch and makes gnome superior when it comes to themes and look.
Well, I'll give you my personal medal, five bananas!:

Hello there
A little annoying problem, nothing serious. At login Screen setup I've choosed Standard Greeter instead of Graphical greeter. Now the one dollar question 'How do I change the user(s) picture? Now there's a siluette of a person with a question mark. I've been through all the options at the login screen setup without luck.
Cheers

Did you try to open firefox via console as root? It could be that the extension need to be installed where it needs a root permission.

Found a gui program to F-prot which doesn't need KDE libary files, it's called Xfprot, and can be found here http://web.tiscali.it/sharp/xfprot/
Works like a charm! Though some files it can't scan which is also displayed on the screenshot I've attached.

Okay thanks. I checked...Nothing suspicious, but I firewalled Port 1025 anyway.

Hello there!
What's port 1900 and Port 1025 actually do? I was getting this on my firewall (check attached file) I guess that port 1900 is my modem/netcard that communicating to my ISP. What about Port 1025?
Anything to worry about?
