  1. will do...after work that is.
  2. Just another person who can't seem to get the nvidia drivers to work. Here is what i've done so far: 1. I tried installing the kernel source via RPMdrake (i've heard that there are other ways to do this that work better...what are they?) 2. I tried installing the driver provided by nvidia and it gave me the error message about a missing "/lib/modules/2.6.3-9mdk/buil/include/linux/modvershions.h" 3. I tried installing the same sort of thing but from this guy's website...someone said he had the 2.6 drivers in the compressed file or something http://www.sh.nu/download/nvidia/linux-2.6/ -this worked but...if i try to startx i get "Failed to initialize NVIDIA kernel module" I've tried all of these things in init 3 like i'm supposed to as root and not under su. I also took a look at the x-log and it went through all the device detection and properly picked out my video card. I also changed the line from "nv" to "nvidia", I have a glx line, and i don't have a DRI line. Any ideas...perhaps a better way to make sure i have the right kernel source and it is configured properly. (btw I'm using mdk10 rc1 for amd64...not that it should matter that much) [moved from Installing Mandrake by spinynorman]
  3. ok....cool. I should've searched first, all the info is already here.
  4. If you are using kde I believe one of the addon packages comes with a bunch of screen savers and one is called multimedia or something. I believe you can set it up to do a slideshow.
  5. I'd like to monitor the temperature on my new box but i haven't found anything that works in linux...any suggestions...(something that sat there like kde applet would be nice)
  6. If you have this motherboard or know someone who does and the sound doesn't work...go to the hardware configurator and change the driver for the sound card from via* to the other one that says via*. I figured this one out on a whim. [moved from Installing Mandrake by spinynoman]
  7. I just got mdk 10 for amd 64 rc1 installed and I thought I checked the box to install gnucash....but its not there...so i checked the package manager and it doesn't say i can install it or uninstall it...weird.... I also checked on the package list at the mdk website and its listed...now i'm just plain confused...so i'm downloading the rpm from gnucash themselves.
  8. It worked and I found out that the problem was actually in writting the partition tables and not formating the drive. It formated the partitions redhat made and worked like a charm. Except: I had to do it twice because redhat only gave like 80 MB to /home and i have a 80 gig harddrive...didn't notice till it said disk full when I was moving all my personal files into /home. Thanks for idea...though it should've been something I thought of right away.
  9. Does anyone know when Mandrake 10 for amd 64 will be released online for download? (note: I'm not asking about mdk 10 rc1, which has its problems)
  10. I've tried to install Mdk 10 rc1 for amd 64 a couple of times now and it keeps giving me an error when it trys to format hda. Then if I dig a little deeper it tells me that it can't find all these perl scripts. I'm clueless as to what's going on. Any ideas? (I'm at work now...I'll replicate the prob when I get home and copy down the whole error message)
