  1. Hi DragonMage, you said: Ok, so where would I find these logs :?: Thanks I'll check that out It was included on a recent Linux Format cover DVD but can also be found at http://clam.elektrapro.com
  2. Hi Defunct, you said: I realise that Linux doesnt suffer from viruses the same way that windows does, but I will shortly be joining on online discussion group which are no doubt going to be mainly windows users. Therefore I want to be sure that any attachments they send to me, which I may need to forward on, are virus free for their sakes.
  3. Hi Guys (and gals  ) I have a couple of questions regarding the above subjects, I wonder if anyone can shed anylights I have recently setup Tinyfirewall on my Mandrake8.2 system. Now it is setup what or where do I check for suspicious activity? When I used WIN98 I used Zonealarm and this would advise me when something was trying to gain access to my pc. Does TinyFireWall do the same :?: I have also recently installed Clamantivirus. When I run the clamscan test as per the pdf instructions it creates a document in my home directory called scan.txt which tells me that it has found the test viruses but I can't seem to find where it stores the information regarding which viruses it has found and where they are :?: Also I take it that Clam is just a virus checker and not a virus killer is that correct :?:
  4. Hi Joehill, you said: Ok Thanks I'll try that No it's nothing to do with that. Konqueror is fine at first then I'll go to another desktop and do something or other. When I return to Konqueror the lines have appeared in the menu and toolbars. If I then close Konqueror and restart it the lines have disappeared. Most weird :? Oh well, never mind. 5. Hi All, Can anyione shed any light on the following. Firstly, how do I set up my default homepage in Konqueror? Whenever I load the program it defaults to file:/usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html. In Settings | Configure Konqueror | File Manager | Behaviour tab I have http://uk.my.yahoo.com set as the home url but I still get the above page loaded when I start up. I can't seem to find anywhere ielse n the settings to set this. Secondly every now and then vertical bars appear in the menu bar and toolbars. They are about 1/8 inch wide and spaced alomg the bars at approx 1 inch intervals. My system is a Celeron500 with 384 Mb ram,
  6. Unfortunately that's exactly my situation. I will be in contact with a small group of (probably) sole windows users. The last thing I want to be accused of is propogating a virus that I may have received from one of them. Exactly, but try getting a normal windows user to accept that. :?
  7. Hi Peeps :D Can anyone suggest a decent anti virus program in order to check email contents. Before anyone responds that Linux doesn't need an anti virus software, I am going to be enrolling on an online training programme where I will be talking to MSWin users. :? So that I can ensure that I don't inadvertently pass on any virii I would like to at least check incoming emails. Also it is a requirement of enrolling that antivirus software is installed and used. S'pose they have to be careful. I am running MDrake 8.2 on an Intel Celeron 500. Any info would be appreciated.
