What do I need to change? The line that says IPADDR= ? If so do I change it to the routers IP or one that the router would assign?

Actually using Fedora. Like I said, the card works, sorta. If I do iwlist scanning it sees the router. When I ifdown eth0 then ifup eth0 it fails to get an IP for some reason.

iwlist scanning sees the router and it's MAC address and everything. I just don't get it.

O.K. I got linuxant working...Sorta. Linux recognizes the card but will not connect to the router. If I do iwlist scanning it sees the router and it's MAC address. What's up with this thing? The config file. Router Status (if that helps)
  5. I have a Netgear WG511T PCMCIA wireless adapter. I installed the madwifi RPM package that's available for Fedora Core 1 (my Linux distro). So I ran the package...It installed I guess and went back to the desktop. Now what? It still doesn't work. Please remember I know NOTHING about Linux at this point.
  6. Business is a completely different topic when you're referring to Dell. All business support is handled stateside. All joe schmoe support is handled somewhere in Asia. BS!
  7. Dell is complete crap. There customer support is aweful, their systems (especially laptops) suck. Brief history: Only computer I've ever purchased and not built myself is my Dell laptop. 2 hard drive failures 3 memory failures 1 motherboard failure Last one took 3 MONTHS to get my laptop back. The actually lost it...Yes...LOST. Told me I'd get a completely new one...They lied. I e-mailed michael_dell@dell.com and got a response from one of his ENGLISH speaking assistants (the tech support people don't speak english and their favorite phrase is "I understand your frustration sir."
  8. O.K. So I installed MadWiFi...Now what?
  9. My 10/100 port is there, my wireless PCMCIA card is not.
  10. I should have mentioned I installed Linuxant, but I can't figure out how to use it. It didn't add any application shortcuts anywhere...
  11. I just setup my Dell Inspiron 2650 to dual boot Fedora Linux and WinXP Pro. I'm awesome with Windows, but I know jack shyte about Linux. I'm trying to get my wireless card, a Netgear WG511T, to work in Linux. Can someone walk me through this process? Devryn
