  1. Don't know about the Totem issue but I can say that the sources you are try to install from have been moved. It appears that the Cooker Tree (Mandrake-Devel) has been moved to make way for 10.0 Final/Official/Whatever.................

  2. Just read someplace a note from the cooker mailing list (from Warly) that the sources for 10 are moving to their normal place on the servers. 10 final is on its way to the presses.

    Adjust your urpms accordingly

Just what I thought.........................Thanks for the "scoop" scoopy ;-)

  3. i'm not getting any sound output, i'm using a7nx8 board, i go to property and it shows the nforce but i'm not getting sound, please help

vpkb........Make sure that your sound is not muted or the volume is all the way down. More than likely, the PCM slider is all the way down.......

  4. I have used Mandy since 7.2 and must say that 10 CE is by far the "best out of the blocks". I would have to attribute it to the new 2.6 kernel though. I have been updating with Cooker and all is well to this point. I am now using the 2.6.3-7 kernel and it getting along extremely well with my ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Mobo ;-)

  5. Sorry if this comes across as too cynical.... but along with many other board members here I think that MandrakeSoft is not very much in touch with their users. I do like the distro a lot, and the developers earn their bread in my opinion. The company just leaves quite a bit to be desired...

I have been messing with Mandrake since 7.2 release off and on. The one thing that keeps me from purchasing directly from them and "club" membership is becasue all of the folly I have seen go on over the years with Mandrake's poor customer service.

I am in a position to where I can bundle Mandrake with a new PC (OEM Sysyem Builder) but I hesitate due to the issues I have seen in the past, i.e., unanswered e-mails, Mandrake-Expert's cryptic solutions, etc........

Anyone know of a good distro for an OEM System Builder to bundle and receive proper support??

  6. I just installed MDK 10 today and it went pretty flawlessly. My rig is an XP 2600+, (2) 512MB DDR 266, Asus A7N8XE-Deluxe, Nvidia GeForce MX 440, (1) Maxtor 40GB, (1) Maxtor 80GB and (2) Seagate SATA 80GB HDD's. What surprised me the most was being able to get the Marvell LAN Gigabit NIC up and running, had a helluva time trying to get it to work with Slack 9.1 2.4.25 kernel. Now if I could only get my external USB HDD to work..........................So far I love the 2.6.3-4 kernel
