  1. WineX 3 has big issues with the new Glibc packages, really the only way to get it working again is to roll back the Glibc version, to 2.2. I don't think I will be renewing my subscription after this year. I have spent to much time trouble shooting all their problems for the few games that did run using WineX 2.2. I was really hoping that WineX 3 would rectify the problems of the games that I could not run, and now it will not run at all with any distro that is running the newer Glibc packages. I guess even Wine is having problems as well, from what I read on the support Forum@Transgaming.
  2. Anyone know or hear anything on the actual release dates for MOHAA, SPEARHEAD, and America's Army ??? Anyone,..anyone...Farris..Faris Bullor ? Things have been pretty quiet on this front.

    new NVIDIA drivers

Yeah it looks like they really made life easier for the end user. Cewl, will be doing the same.
  4. You have to make sure you follow the directions @NVidia, I have a G4 Ti 4600 with 128 DDR on board (AGP) and it rocks using the 4191 drivers from NVidia. As long as you run export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=true before rebuilding the source RPMs, they will work properly, Then make sure /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 has the module for "glx" being loaded, Then make sure you change the line in same file, "nv" to "nvidia", Then reboot, you should be flying then.
  5. Up until Mandrake 9.1, I would have gladdly provided assistance, but even with WineX 3.0, I can't even get WineX to work properly, yet alone get HL/CS/Op4 installed and working again. Apparently Ghost Recon/Spearhead are working WineX 3.0, but I can't even make an attempt at that one. The only recommendation I can make from what I have been reading is rolling back from Glibc 2.3 to Glibc 2.2, this is where the problem is. Good Luck
  6. They have corrected the release date; Doom 3 - PRE-RELEASE Category First/Third Person By id Software Price $49.00 Language English Availability Expected 31 Oct 2003 (Unconfirmed Release Date) Since the PC version is 59 US, I would expect the Linux version to go up as well. Thanks all for the contact info. If I didn't get them to change it, some people would have started a riot when they didn't see it in stores on that date
  7. Yes this last post of my http2.conf file is all I need to get all 3 sites up and running. Since I reinstalled to 9.1 final, I did the same thing, and it still works. Just use the last http2.conf file and it will work for you.
  8. Okay, just checking, I have actually installed any games yet with 9.1, but I was having the same problems all through the release canditate phases. Will let ya know what happens though. I am going to install Tac Ops here shortly.
  9. I am in the same boat as you, plus I am running a web server LOL. I would highly recommend backing up all your stuff to CD prior to doing any upgrades or installs. Now that I got that out of the way, I run into the same problems at times. All through the Beta and RC phases I would just do an upgrade, and I would accumilate a tonn of crap in the mean time. When it comes to final versions, some times it is worth doing a complete fresh install. A lot has changed from 9.0->9.1, it may be worth your while to do a fresh install ?
  10. Okay, just checking, I have actually installed any games yet with 9.1, but I was having the same problems all through the release canditate phases. Will let ya know what happens though.
  11. Not doubting you, but are you sure it is the latest version ?
  12. What is GPGME and where can I get it ? Looks interesting so far... thanks.
  13. Found this nifty How To yesterday, I think I may give it a try. I didn't bother copying the article, because it would have lost the links. Check it out. Sounds like it might be useful for slower connections. http://www.pclinuxonline.com/modules.php?n...rticle&sid=4760
  14. So far this time, even DVD (Xine) is working this time, audio is a little glitchy, but all speakers are working this time using Alsamixer GUI on CD 3. All my Hardware is workiing fantastic. The only problems that I have seen so far are the ones with KMail, and not being able to copy and paste a URL into Mozilla, and the Trash can problems. If I could find another email program that does PGP I would switch.
  15. I checked there site for a point of contact but could not find anything at all.
  16. Hey...where is Tux Games getting their information from about the release date for Doom III ? They are saying 31 Mar 03, which, if you check EB Games, the game is not released for Windows boxes until 10/31/03, I think Tux Games has made a typo there...(Yes I know that it is just an estimated time frame at that). Doom III is not released until Oct 31, 2003, which as we all know, will then be another month or two before the game is released for Linux platform (Maybe Longer) ????
  17. 9.1 final is definately very solid, I was expecting K-Mail (Trash Folder) to work again. Looks like they changed K-Mail, so that when you delete emails, then don't go directly into the Trash folder anymore. You have to drag and drop the emails into the trash folder now. I was also hoping to be able to import my exported address (K-Mail) books, but this is still a nightmare and I end up having to re-add everyone manually. Other that than that small complaint, I have not had any other problems with it, so far.
  18. I was running into this problem with RC 2, Ravage has some great advice. I would also recommend downloading the latest Loki Update Tool, this seemed to help me out some what. ftp://ftp.lokigames.com/pub/updates/loki_...-1.0.13-x86.run

  21. For me, during the betas and RCs I usually upgrade, then when the stable release comes out, then I do a fresh install. Anyone try Playing DVDs with Xine Yet ?
  22. I had the same problems, as you. I just put it aside until someone else posted the same senario. I was using www.no-ip.com, and had the MX records all setup, I could send email locally on the network, but could not get anything going to the outside or in from pop3 accounts using www.no-ip.com. As far as I could tell, DNS through no-ip.com was setup correctly and working. For now I am just using SMTP/Postfix locally with LogSentry to automatically scan my logs on an hourly basis, and report anything it found via SMTP on localhost. Let me know how you make out. I will be watching this one.
  23. During your installs of 9.1 final, anyone try installing from the hard drive, vice CD, when running XFS filesystem on the partition ? I was not able to access the ISO images when they were stored on a partition running XFS.
  24. I got all 3 CDs this morning from ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/Mandrake-Iso/ speed was excellent as usual.
  25. I just downloaded 9.1 final this morning, but have not upgraded yet...sorry.
