    Digi Cam

I just use GTKAM with my Kodak 4900 Easyshare and Docking station. Once I push the sync button on the docking station, I can see it show up in USB Viewer, then I run GTKAM and autodetect my camera, then transfer the Pics over to HD space. This is just another option thats all. Thanks again MottS :)
  2. I ran the command when I was initially installing the drivers the first time around....before I noticed I was not running the SMP Kernel. After that I never had to run it again. Now I just have to get SSFE running again. I lost my server scripts by accident, so starting from scratch again. Thanks dude.
  3. MottS; Got it all running now. I had to use the "rpm -ev --nodeps --allmatches NVIDIA_*" to get all instances of it removed properly. Once this was done, I was able to get the drivers installed and running properly again. Thanks for the help
  4. Okay got everything installed now and I have an option to choose that kernel in the boot up (lilo). When I boot into the smp kernel, I can no longer go into X, I am having problems with the nviida drivers. Did you run into this problem too MottS ? I tried to remove the packages and recompile them from src, and reinstall them, but even this is giving me a problem now. Any ideas ?
  5. Nope, which explains the damn sluggishness, hopefully they deal with this by the final releases. Thanks.
  6. Thanks MottS :) I thought Mandrake autodetected the SMP setup, and built and option in the Lilo Boot ? I know 9.0 did this for me, I didn't have to recompile the kernel.
  7. I spent the last 2 days installing Mandrake 9.1 rc 1, with a new 120 Gig drive which gives me a total of 200 Gigs of space now. My problems is that the system is running slower, and I am not seeing the option in Lilo/Grup to boot the SMP Kernel ? Is there a way to check for sure whether I am running both CPUs or not ? And why has the SMP kernel been removed from the boot up process in 9.1 ? Thanks.
  8. Funny guy  I will check the other one out, thanks aru --
  9. Anyone know or have any good Tuts for using GIMP to create Web Graphics ? I have checked out the GIMP site already, and most of them are not detailed enough for beginners, they were for the advanced users and expected you to know where all the settings were already. I want to create some graphics and designs for my new Mandrake site, which I am creating due to preasure from friends and relatives that constantly bombard me with Linux/Mandrake questions.

    hehehehehehehehe Yeah that would hurt.
  11. I had a feeling that it had something to do with the network settings I was using. Apache is running now and I can access the IP Address and use the web redirect without any problems. I changed back to my usual settings, and dumped the no-ip.org hostname, plugged myself back into the router and now everything is cewl again. Thanks for the help though, really appreciated the effort
  12. MottS; Disregard my last, I am back on my router and apache is working now, turns out what was screwing apache up was the hostname I was using. Not sure why, but everything is running great now that I am no longer using the no-ip.org hostname. I am also back to using Guarddog. Thanks for the help though.
  13. Thanks MottS. I think that did the trick. I needed to keep the connectivity there without the firewall in order to trouble shoot my apache server. I should know shortly if it holds up. What happened was that I maintained connectivity, but the ICS Clients lost their connection.
  14. I did manage to get ICS working with MDL 9.0, but when I go to disable shorewall, everything dies on me. I would perfer to use Guarddog, it is much more fexible overall. Does anyone know if this can be done ?

You have to look at it in layers, you have to create a new Zone for you LAN, even though it has a local there already. Once you do that and add your network and netmask, you have turn things on to get access to the Internet. For a single network, you will have 3 Zones, LAN, Local, and Internet. The Internet is what you are going to allow your boxes to have access to on the Internet, POP3, SMTP, DNS, WWW, NNTP, Gaming Ports...just the basic stuff, and your going to block block the rest. All 3 Zone should have access to the major ports. The Local and LAN Zones are where you are going to allow WebAdmin, Samba if you are running it. All the services you need locally, but want to keep from spewing on the Internet. As well as the required ones through, the ones you have allowed access to in the Internet Zone. Once you have this basic picture of how it works, you will get things running. The default rules is Deny All though.
  16. Yeah I noticed that as well, it resolves to thier Website, and goes no futher for some reason. Almost like it can't be resolved to the IP Address I gave them for my box. That is why I have been using my assigned IP Address for cox, to test the connection, which for some reason is not working. I have totally disabled the firewalls and router now. So the router was not the problem after all. This is the most work I have ever done to run a web server.
  17. Because I or no one can access the site via the internet. The hostname of my box is mandrake101.no-ip.org, which is why I can access it. My site still can't be accessed via the Internet.
  18. I got all the 1.3.27 packages downloaded and installed. Everything is at the default settings. I can still access the web server via localhost, the LAN IP Address, and the hostname (mandrake101.no-ip.org), but I can not access it via the Internet Address assigned to me by my ISP. I am no longer using the LinkSys Router, only 2 NICs now. The Firewalls are turned off, except Shorewall, but I have allowed access to port 80. This is really starting to upset me now. I don't know where the problem lies, could it be something in the Network settings ? Hostname ? I have tried everything in the httpd.conf file, but nothing works.
  19. I have downloaded all the 1.3.27 packages for Apache. Except the apache-common. I either can't find it or I am unable to download it via rpmseek.com. I was going to upgrade my Apache server to the new one, to see if this fixes the problems I am having. It would be the fix package that didn't install properly.
  20. Funny person  Nevermind, thanks all, everything is running now, I just checked one of the other posts. Now I just got to fix all the changes that were made to the Network and my own box. The biggy now is Apache again.
  21. I don't really know what the f**$ I did, but now I am up and running VIA NIC only vice Linksys Router. I did exactly what I did last night, and suddenly it worked LOL. Now my IP Address is back to x.x.x.50 again vice x.x.x.102. Must have been the Canadian Beer :) It was very good too, especially after having watered down stuff since last summer. Now I am going to insert the other NIC for the LAN, I am both holding my breath and peeing my pants.
  22. I understand what you are saying about the MAC authentication. I have change the MAC on the Router to the NIC MAC to get authenticated by Cox. I have moved NICs around before from puter to puter, and I will no longer be able to connect. So I do understand what you are saying. As to what my address resolves to, is beyond me. I do run a pretty tight firewall and block all ICMP at the router. I do have all 3 ISP DNS entries in my /etc/resolv.conf. If I use the NIC (Same MAC as what the router was set to) removing the router all together, should I not be able to connect directly to the Modem, and configure DHCP to get my connection running again ?
  23. I really didn't have much time last night, but I took the router out of the loop, put another NIC in the box. I was able to get the LAN working just fine, but for some reason, I could not get my Cable setup on eth0/eth1. It didn't seems to retreive the IP Address using DHCP, and if I tried to go static, it didn't work either. So I plugged the router back into the network, removed the second NIC, and finally got things back up and running. This morning, I reset the router totally, then ran into problems getting an IP Address again. I finally did though. I still can't access the Website now. I really wish ISPs would give more space for Web Hosting. I will play with it on saturday when I actually have more time.
  24. I put myself on the DMZ, so all ports should automatically be forwarded to my linux box. I still can't access it from work either. I am going to disconnect my router when I get a chance. Maybe this weekend. Just to see if it is Cox Cable or me. From there I can trouble shoot the problem...hopefully.
  25. Not yet. It is hard to verify if anyone can access it or not. Can anyone see if you can get to; http://mandrake101.no-ip.org:9000/ Thanks. I will also check from work today.
