Just wondering : to disable them, do you go to MDC Then system, then services and press stop for each services ?
-
Where do you find the repair tool ? i looked into tips and tricks but i did not find the thread about it.
-
i did it, this is when i get the message "Unable to update medium :it will be automatically disabled. Errors retrieving failed : curl exited with 19 or signal 0. no hdlist file found for medium “plf” problem reading synthesis file of medium “plf”"
i even tried to add them with the konsole using the line on easyurpmi.zarb.org but it is the same problem.

thanks. i just checked it and it is free for private use. you only have to pay for business use or edicational use.
By the way, here is the website
-
ok, i will try that tonight.

I found something on this link :
http://updates.cpubuilders.com/modules/wfs...php?articleid=1
referring to this download page :
http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/bj/bjlinux221.html
Do you know if it is up to date ?
-
don't know, it does not recognize canon i950 and tells me to select bj1000.
-
plf does not exist in packages manager.

Have you tried alternate mirrors in case it was unable to contact the one you had selected?
You may have to reinitialise your urpmi sources, as per the easyurpmi note towards the bottom of the page. Another option, just check in the KDE Software Media Manager, and see if there is anything existing for PLF. If so, can remove, and then see how you get on at selecting after that. I'm assuming you were able to add the other ones OK, and just problems with PLF?
I've had issues before with certain mirrors, and by just selecting another one I was OK.
i tried alternate mirror (not that there are a lot) but it is exactly the same pb.
How do you access Kde Software and media manager.
The pb occurs only with PLF free and plf paying.
al the other ones are working fine.

yes i checked in the advanced settings and parameters are set properly.
another thing is that it prints in black and white, even though it is set to print in color in the advanced parameters.

I have mandriva 2005 LE
i have canon printer i950
i have set the paper as a4, however, the printer prints only a reduce copy of my documents so that they appear on the top quarter of each pages instead of being printed on the whole page.
Does anmyone encounters this knd of problem ?
I wonder if i have the right driver.
Could anyone help me on this ?

i was not able to find "/var/boot.log"
another recurrent problem, when i try to set the urpmi sources for plf, here is the message that i have "Unable to update medium :it will be automatically disabled. Errors retrieving failed : curl exited with 19 or signal 0. no hdlist file found for medium “plf” problem reading synthesis file of medium “plf”". i tried several times thhrough the last days since i updated to 2005 le, but every time i have the same problem.

When i run superkaramba from the console and then launch Liquid weather, here what it tells me :
Could not find platform independent libraries <prefix>
Consider setting $PYTHONHOME to <prefix>[:<exec_prefix>]
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/themes/kde themes/liquid_weather_plus/liquid_weather.py", line 13, in ?
import os
ImportError: No module named os
------------------------------------------------------
What does ImportError mean?
It means that I couldn't load a python add-on for liquid_weather.theme
If this is a regular theme and doesn't use python
extensions, then nothing is wrong.

I have found a newest version of Super karamba (0.36) and i downloaded Liquid Weather 6.0.
This is suppose to work, but when i launch the them, it does not display it or superkaramba crashes.
Any help please !!!! I am desperate to find a solution to this issues.
-
i have updated to mandriva 2005 LE, and tonight when i logged on to my normal user, here what happens :
when i launch Superkaramba and open liquid weather, the theme is displayed but there are no iconds displayed.
I tried to uninstal et reinstall Super Karamba and it is the same problem.
However, when i log in root and i launch it, it works fine. does anyone knows what is the issue ?

OK, let us know how you get on!
i tried to uninstall devfsd, it said unknown package, so i went to the Mandrake control center. i looked in package installed and i canot find it, so i checked to package to install and i found it, o i assume that it is not installed then.
now tonight when i turned on my computer amd logged into the session, the network was working.
It is really confusing.

What network card are you using?
What's the contents of nsswitch.conf and resolv.conf in /etc?
The only thing I can think of is that something is missing. What sources do you have set up for urpmi?
I have main, contrib, jpackage, plf-free, plf-nonfree, updates. Make sure nothing else is listed, then from the cli type the following:
urpmi --auto-select --auto
This will ensure that you have absolutely everything your system depends on to make sure nothing is out-of-date.
Then, ensure you have the kernel-2.6.11-6mdk installed. This will bring your kernel up-to-date also. You may wish to install the kernel-source to match this as well.
Report back what you find after the updating and rebooting? Also, press ESC on startup, to see if their are any errors posted here, and if so, please add your /var/boot.log so we can see what's happening.
i did the updating exactly as you mentionned and this is after doing it that the problem appeared.
I have main, contrib, jpackage, updates (plf-free, plf-nonfree cannot be set as source). i have nothing else listed. i have the kernel-2.6.11-6mdk installed.
This is the card i have :network card : 3Com 3C920 In(tegrated Fast Ethernet).
I will try to to the other manipulation tonight when i come back home.

I don't understand, since i updated to mandriva 2005le, every time i log into the session, my internet connection does not work, i have to get into Mandrake Control center and chose reset network connection, From there, i do nothing, and then the connection turns on. Any idea what causes this and how to solve this issue ?
any chance of an advice concerning that network issue ? Help please.

I installed udev, and removed devfsd, but get the errors still, so am assuming I need to edit the line that says usbdevfs and replace with usbfs. I just not sure where the file is!

Good luck with the update! You'll need it.
The update from one version of MDK to another has been unclean for many people, i.e., it doesn't work good.
A clean install is always adviced.
one question, if update from one version to another is always tricky, why do they offer this option at the first place ?
i always thought that an update would be better since it would avoid having to spend a nightmarish time to reset the parameters. But it proves wrong since after updating, we spend another nighmarish time trying to solve the problems and eventually a fresh install has to be done.

i have updated to mandrake 10.2 (mandriva) and now my network card are not recognized.
network cards : 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet
Network Adapter - Packet Scheduler Miniport)
Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible) - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Truemobile TM1150 Internal Mini PCI Card for Inspiron 4150
they were both recognized in mandrake 10.1

I got the mandriva distro cd on linux format and i updated my system, now it is working again. however, in mandrake control center, packages manager, i tried to add the ftp source for plf that i found via easyurpmi, but it does not work, i cannot retrieve the source.

i tried tio update the tree for mandriva and i don't know, something went wrong
now i cannot access to the mandrake control center,
and when i try to reset the urpmi, i get somethiong like that :
