same problem :

Wrong username/password. Access denied.

here is my config.inc.php file :

[4.4] phpMyAdmin always gives "Access denied" when using HTTP authentication.

 

This could happen for several reasons:

 

    * $cfg['Servers'][$i]['controluser'] and/or $cfg['Servers'][$i]['controlpass'] are wrong.

    * The username/password you specify in the login-dialog are invalid.

    * You have already setup a security mechanism for the phpMyAdmin-directory, eg. a .htaccess file. This would interfere with phpMyAdmin's authentication, so remove it.

Where is located the >htaccess file ? i do not see it in phpmyadmin directory.

you can check what password it is expecting in the file config.inc.php that can be found at:

file:/var/www/html/admin/phpMyAdmin/

 

look around line 84

 

and yes... root is the default username.

There are no password expected in the file config.inc.php.

when i change authentification method to config, i get this message :

#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

ok, after reinstalling all the module needed, now, when i type :

http://127.0.0.1/admin/phpMyAdmin/index.php

it ask me for a username and password.

i assume the username is root

as for the password, i tried the empty field, my root password, but i cannot connect.

it tells me :

Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.6.4-pl1

 

Wrong username/password. Access denied.

What else is wrong ?

For php myadmin to work on my machine, i need to install those packages, is that correct, or did i forget to mention some ?

Sounds like the database you're trying to load isn't compatible with that version of P-SQL - did you check the file it suggested??

postgresql-8.0 does not start on mandriva 2006. Here is the error message i get :

An old version of the database format was found.

You need to upgrade the data format before using PostgreSQL.

Anyone has a clue what is going on ? I am at a loss.

i looked into /etc/init.d/

i tried to restart postgresql

when i do that, it tells me

could it be that this service (not started)prevent php my admin to start correctly ?

try to check whats in your /var/log/http/access or error log, it might help you   find the cause...

i don't understnad because the folder var/www/htpm does not exist on my machine

When i log in root and then i try again to type the link , it display the following message :

Object not found !

The requested url was not found on this server, if you entered teh url manually please check your spelling and try again.

then installed what ever php module that needed to be installed...

i tried to uncheck sound system but it does not work either. i sstill have pbrpblem with sound.

i am using mandriva le 2006

If I remember correctly skype uses only /dev/dsp. Try making a link from /dev/sound/dsp

i did it and i tried again to type :

But nothing appear yet there is a blank screen, on the browser, not even a error message .

I try to paste the code in the console but it tell me commands not found.

apache is working fine, when i type 127.0.0.1 i have the apache test page wrking fime.

but when i type 127.0.0.1/admin/phpMyAdmin/ nothing happens, no error messsages, nothing at all.

Since i installed Mandriva 2006, PHPMYADMIN DOES NOT WORK.

I TRIED TO UNINSTAL AND REINSTAL IT BUT IT STILL DO NOT WORK.

It worked fine before i upgraded to 2006.

None of my usb devices work anymore since i installed MANDRIVA 2006.

i thought it was a problem with my mouse but even my memory stick is not working either, none of them are detected.

good, i installed scribus and as well Inkscape and those two softwares are awsome. i can say now without hesitation that i can use linux for vectorial illustration and desktop publishing.

those two software are real and awsome contenders to the Windows applications.
