i tried to edit k menu and menu drake, but nothing change on the menu display.

How to make phpmyadmin work on mandriva 2006 ?

What are the packages to install ?

when i type http://127.0.0.1/admin/phpMyAdmin/, nothing happens at all ?

apache is working and i am able to access webmin as welll.

I am at a loss. Help please !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been chasing this problem around for a while now. Tried all the suggestions none worked. Took a look at the sound files and the one for hangup i.e. hangup.wav was a 16 bit sound file the others were 8 bit. Converted the 16 bit to 8 bit and it works no problem now. Edit '/usr/share/skype/sound/hangup.wav' simply convert to 8 bit.

how do you convert it to 8 bits ?

I have got kxdocker and i can launch it no problem. However, when i try to configure it, it does not take into account the changes (adding new icons and assigning application to them.

Help Please.

In terms of finding if installed, try:

 

whereis drakroam

 

or if that doesn't help, then try:

 

updatedb
slocate drakroam

 

or filter by using "slocate drak" instead, to show more entries this way too.

i installed udev and now it works , everything is recognized.

i got the package on skype.com download. it is explained on the site how to untar it.

but the fact is that i cannot make it work. i can dial a contact but when i get it online, he cannot hear me and i cannot hear him.

i use dreamweaver ftp application on windows and it works fine. i use the same settings.

I don't tend to use kbear, but gftp instead.  Check for options on whether you are using Passive Mode FTP or Active Mode FTP.  Usually I've found that problems are due to the mode you've currently got selected.

 

I think when I had it, I had to choose Active Mode to get it to work with the site I tried to connect to.

i tried both and i have the same pb.

I am trying to setup a ftp conection to my website on the remote server with kbear.

i have entered the proper information provided by my host provider (confirmed by their technical support) but every time i try to connect i have a message telling me that the remote host have denied access to the directory.

since i installed mandriva 2006, i can now get my machine in standby or suspend

However when i come back from standby or suspend. it turns out that the system do no restore my session but open a fresh one as if i had log out which means that i cannot leave any document open on my desktop when i want to go in standby or suspend.

Is that a normal behavior or if not what settings do i have to change/what connand do i have to type.

By the way, my machine is a dell inspiron 4150 as mentionned below.

Just untar to some directory, check if "skype" has executable flag, and run it. If it's not running there's a README file inside on setting program variables the easy way...

It even includes a .desktop file.

i installed the version 1.2.0.18 but then i am back to square one. i have no sound at all. is there somewher a tarbal from an earlier version like 1.1.0.20 ?

Just use the static tarball, it *should* work... (no promises though).

i suppose you enter urpmi --force skype to be able to install skype over the current skype, or urpmi skype --force.

if so , i have the following message :

no package named skype

The package (s) are already installed

i am at a loss.

You can always try the --force option with urpmi or rpm.  I have been able to install over a copy of skype that wouldn't uninstall that way (didn't help though), and then it would not uninstall either.

 

So where are you getting the older version?  I haven't been able to find any for mandy, deb yes, mandy no.

how do you use the --force option with urpmi,what exactly do you type in konsole ?

same problem with me. i wanted to install an earlier version which, accorcding to the skype forum would work. but i am stuck in between, i cannot install skype and i cannot uninstall.

i am on a linux mandriva 2006 on a Dell inspiron 4150 notebook

i installed the skype rpm from the skype website and when i try to uninstall it with command rpm -e skype, i have this result :

got the problem on a dell inspiron 4150 and got the skype rpm from the skype website.

i installed skype 1.2.0.18 using MCC PACKAGE INSTALLATION and when i encounterd a problem with the sound device, following the advice from the skype forum, i tried to uninstall it with MCC PACKAGE REMOVAL in order to install the version 1.1.020

1- when i try to install version 1.1.020, it tells me that the packages are already installed.

2 - when i looked in installed packages, i can still see skype 1.2.0.18, so apparently it has not been uninstalled. however, when i try to launch it, it says that skype command is not found.

Anyone can help me please to fix this issue.

i checked and it is installed.

When i looked in services in MCC, i don't have any mysql service, but i have mysqld service.
