  1. I have 2 other question.

the first one is how do you set a diferent wallpaper for each workspace (desktop) in Gnome.

The second one is how do you install theme : I downloaded some theme from the website you told me (there are some awsome theme) but some of them i cannot install. (for example Rpanther theme.

  2. I just realised that i forgot to specify something. The missing menu issue occurs only in Openoffice.org program. eveything else works perfectly. Do i still have to do what you suggested or is it not just a openoffice.org issue ?

Don't make me wrong, i do not mistrust you, but i am affraid taht in my haste i did not explain the issue correctly.

    Sorry about that.

  3. did i miss something? neither on ubuntu, nor on fedora, nor on slackware i have my apps of taskbar 1/desktop 1 showing up in taskbar 2/desktop 2 in gnome.  they are completely seperated, unless i make them sticky...

ok, so in gnome there are no graphic to change the way gnome looks.

  4. I was wondering if gnome was more limited than kde concerning the configuration.

I did not find any way to configure gnome to set several desktop like in kde or how to hide the icons on the desktop.

    Any ideas ?

Can you as weel configure kde to change the way it looks, like changing the way the clock looks in the task bar.

I figured i had to lauch themes, but when i try to do it, it tells me that i cannot do it because gconf is not properly configured.

  5. One strange thing is that before i moved to 10.1 OE, when i was  on 10.0, it was working fine.

Oh... how did you have it set up before? (the router that is) Perhaps its something straightforward like 10.1OE comes with a firewall running?

it seems to be very capricious, because tonight when i turned my computer on,it worked. i hope it is going to last, though i have no idea why it did not work yersterday

  6. i cannot access to apache configuration (http://127.0.0.1:10000/ where it tells me to got to https://photoworks:10000/ instead) and i get this message :

“you have received an invalid certificate. Please contact server administrator or email correspondant and give them the following information :

Yor certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authorit. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number.”

curiously when i try the same address in Konqueror, i am able to access the page.

Any ideas of what is happening ?

    :help:

  7. i was wondering one thin about my router configuration. on the router, the IP address is 192.168.2.1, but when i type ifconfig in a linux console on my computer, it tells me the ip address is 192.168.2.7.

would not be where the problem comes from ?

i tried also to put an ip address in the dmz zone (i tried to put 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.7) but it does not work either.

Now i am a little baffled by the page "special application settings"

i have a field for trigger port, tcp, udp choice, then a public port field, then again a tcp, udp choice and then an Enabled box.

What exactly do i have to enter in those fields ?

i also have a "virtual server" setting page

i tried to enter 192.168.2.7 (private ip) then 80 in private port, choosing tcp and then entering 80 in public port.

But then again, it did not work.

One strange thing is that before i moved to 10.1 OE, when i was on 10.0, it was working fine.

I am really baffled at my stupidity since i anm unable to recreate the right settings and i did not write them down.

here are some links i found on the net for interface snapshots of my router :

    belkin gateway router status

    virtual server settings
