  1. No need to ;) It's installed. I don't care about the disks anymore except for rpms.
  2. Well...I was able to install it after trying a couple of the F1 more options. I did the LOW RES install and it appeared to have STOPED without error but the mouse still moved. I then rebooted and tried the nomal res install after going to the F1 option...and IT WORKED! It took about 1 and a half hours to do the upgrade after that. I don't know what was going on. It gave me that error about 4 times before I went to the F1 option.
  3. Dun Dun Dun... Ok, so...What could be the problem. I put the CD in to CD-ROM drive, I reboot the computer, I watch the bios prompt to boot from CD-ROM....and then....LE2005 intial boot menu comes up (F1 other options - ENTER install or upgrade). I press enter...The CRAZY TUX IMPOSTER is displayed and a progress bar is displayed...it takes a while before it starts moving...but eventually it does. About one third of the way, the installer yells at me and says "FATAL ERROR, FAILED TO INITIALIZE". I looked at the log and couldn't really get any intelligent information out of it. Last I remember, it tried to do an fopen but the file it wanted to open wasn't there...so a simple FAILED was displayed and ....yeah. I will try it again and get as much information as I can out of the log. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I use IE at work to visit this site...mostly on Saturdays since it's very slow at work. The rest of the week I rarely use the internet for personal use at work. Firefox at home...and I've downloaded it more than 10 times...but since it's gone to 1.0 probably 4 times. I first remember using it when it was firebird.
  5. I don't have windows installed on another partition...is that a requirement. Is there a step by step guide as to what to do to get wine working? Maybe a manual. I really just want to use it temporarily with Photoshop until I learn how to use GIMP.
  6. Ah, much better! They are available now ;)
  7. Please point me in the direction of the ISO's... I have tried all of the US ftp servers and am still seeing the RAW TREE.
  8. I hope I'm not getting in to this conversation too later :) In reference to devries bug report... I am having a similar problem. I have an HP 8X Cd-r/rw and a Pioneer DVD-Rom. I tried two times last night to copy an audio cd. It would start with the first track, get 3 percent(24mb) and then it would error out. At around 15mb the buffer percentage bar would start going down...and then at 24mb it would be down to nothing and error. It gave me a cdrao error saying it didn't have a clean exit. That was two times with the Normal mode. I tried clicking Clone before I did the Normal mode and it wouldn't even let me in to it...the cd I was copying was an enhanced cd and it said I would have to update my cdrecord library. So...is the best way to copy a cd to use your cd recorder as your source and let it copy the cd to disk and then put your blank cd in when that's done?
  9. Yeah, but for me...I have a 400mhz AMD K6-2...I don't want it to take two hours to rip one cd. So, fast is the way to go for me. I installed ripperX w/ Lame and it's going a load faster than KAudioCreator did. I'm pleased.
  10. Well, I'm still having the same problem as before. I'm in Linux now. But I get little blocks left behind where the mouse was sometimes. They go away eventually, usually when I open a new window.
  11. You are so right. After I typed that, I looked at my CD's. It is 9.2. Anyways. I just did the install and whatever Mandrake set it up with is what I used. I don't know much about linux. Just trying to get started right. I did the harware compatability at mandrake.org and it says that my video card should work with 10.0. I also checked all the other components of my system and they should work as well. I'll have to give it a try. 10.0 is done downloading. I will probably install it either tonight or monday. Monday is more likely...but maybe tonight. And I will say goodbye to windows 98.
  12. Hello. I have Mandrake 9.3 and had tried to install it on a system with the following specs: AMD K6-2 400mhz Hercules Stingray 128 3D (Voodoo Rush chipset) 256mb PC100 ASUS P5A motherboard Realtek based NIC no sound card I had trouble with the video card being "glitchy" after install. It would clip images and windows would leave blocks on the screen when it should have been a blank desktop. It wasn't working right. So, I went back to what worked...Windows 98. I would really like to give Mandrake a try again. I had it installed as a dual-boot with Windows XP and liked it. I just wanted my second system to run it purely...without windows at all. My XP Machine has a GeForce4 440 MX. What do I need to do to get this thing to work? I am currently downloading Mandrake 10.0. Thanks in advance for any help.
