  1. When I try to run it I get this error: I am using cooker, by the way.
  2. The person has installed twice, but they get this error. How do we fix it?
  3. They tried to do a text install but it would eventually keep telling them "no base system package selected"....
  4. Apparently, the x server thingamabob doesn't work for someone I gave Linux CDs to. It loads into memory but X never comes up, so the installation cannot commence. What do they do? They aren't very good with computers but I'm trying to get them to use linux in conjunction with windows.
  5. Please note that this is not Linux's fault, it is the fault of crappy companies not supporting emerging software.
  6. It appears I compiled my kernel with an option I wasn't supposed to compile with it. Rendering manager or something. It works swell now. I think my USB even works.
  7. The parameter "--no-verify-rpm" just assumes yes on all of them. So if you're updating everything append that on the end.
  8. Linus Torvalds is mentioned in TIME's latest issue, featuring 100 of the world's most influential people.
  9. main ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Li...6/Mandrake/RPMS { hdlist: hdlist.main.cz with_hdlist: ../base/hdlist.cz key-ids: 26752624 } contrib ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Li...er/contrib/i586 { hdlist: hdlist.contrib.cz with_hdlist: ../../i586/Mandrake/base/hdlist2.cz key-ids: 26752624 } plf ftp://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/unix/linux...mandrake/cooker { hdlist: hdlist.plf.cz with_hdlist: ./hdlist.cz list: list.plf key-ids: caba22ae }
  10. Thanks. I hate the new way.
  11. It looks different now. There's no more "Open", "Save", etc Icons. And when I click on a folder it opens a new window instead of just switching in the current window, which is extermely annoying. Anyone got any ideas, or is this how the new nautilus is SUPPOSED to be???
  12. You might need to give your .iceauthority or whatever file a good ol' chmodding-- it's permissions might not be set right.
  13. It still gives me the "Unable to determine NVIDIA kernel module filename" error...
  14. Apparently, there's some sort of weird USB thing added to it that kills my wireless USB card and external USB HDD. They work in 2.6.3-7. So, I can't use the internet on 2.6.3-9 Of course, I already downloaded the 2.6.3-9mdk source so my nvidia module only works for that.
  15. Who else loves this e-mail client? Best I've ever used.
  16. I haven't seen any topics saying this, so there you go. Gnome 2.6 is ready. Oh, and if your computer screwed up due to Mandrake's earlier mistake, it will be fixed after downloading Gnome 2.6.
  17. on cooker using urpmi? Yes.
  18. Gnome 2.6 is available.
  19. This isn't Linux's fault, nor yours, nor Mozilla. It's the stupid, shitty websites who think everyone uses Internet Explorer and tailors their web site for that and ONLY that. Web sites shouldn't use stupid stuff that only works on IE. It's ridiculous. If you can, try moving business elsewhere, or boot into Windows. It's really bad business to lock out customers who aren't chained to Microsoft like they are.
  20. It's not just icons. A lot of things don't work, the stuff that now ends with ".desktop" that didn't before.
  21. I too get this damn icon error... as well as preferences being unable to be changed! I hope this is fixed soon.
