  1. As someone mentioned there's often a readme file which will "usually" give instructions on installation.

    1. It's hard to cover every situation but assuming you're already in that directory and you have a terminal open type the following at the prompt:

    ./configure

    2. Wait until it's done and if you have no errors then the next step is to type:

    make

    3. After that's finished in the terminal type:

    su root

    password

You have to be root user to install the program.

    4. As root you will type:

    make install

Hopefully all is well and your program is installed correctly.

  2. kilamanjaro, I don't know how much help I can be because I don't have that version of OO installed but from reading the docs it looks like it installs in /opt so try looking in that directory. In order to change the entries in the menu to point to your new installation you can use menudrake. You can either open a console and type menudrake or you can go through the mandrake control center. Once you've got it open scroll down to Office and find your OO programs, click on them and where it says command type your path to the executable. i.e. /opt/oomath (or whatever it is). Do that for each entry and then click save and your menu will be updated.

  3. Hi and welcome to the board.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do but it would be easier if you just burned the iso's and install from there. The installer will reformat and partition your hd and configures just about everything automatically. If you downloaded the iso's be sure to use MD5sum to check them. If you're not sure here's a FAQ on it http://mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=4638

 Thanks for posting your progress. I'm sure someday somebody else will have the problem and find your thread very useful. As far as being a noobie you can change your title anytime you want. Just pm one of us admins and we'll be happy to do it. :)

  5. understanding of female limitations

That kind of statement is truely insulting. The only limitations we have are the ones society puts on us with the constant brainwashing and THAT has been proven with numerous studies. We are given all sorts of message growing up and even as adults. Why don't they build a Ken version for boys?

  6. Mattel's Chief Software Architect, Maury Cesterino:

"Most girls up through adult women become frightened and confused, often hysterical when presented with a traditional command prompt," Cesterino explained, "therefore the console program available through the B-Menu in BarbieOS features pink text on a flowered background..."

    :twisted::twisted::twisted:

What a load of $hit. Just more stereotyping for females. I'd like to meet the guy in person and then he'd quickly find out how hysterical *I* could make him.

  7. I was feeling really evil so I went to their feedback page. They wanted to know what I liked best about their program and I said, "It gets me more business because people want their web pages done correctly." Then they wanted to know what I didn't like and I gave them the snapshots of the pages for the website. Then they wanted to know how they could improve their website and I said, 'You can fix your site." And then I included a snapshot of their page with the errors. Can't wait to see IF they respond.

<ot I have three emoticons actually. mystismiles, mystilol and darkmyst. Paul did it  >

  8. I've been checking into the two methods of submitting on-line forms. The first and easiest of course being via email. I coded my page that way only to find out that Opera doesn't support it. It works in IE though.

The other being via cgi. I spent three hours this morning using google and couldn't find one decent site that explained how this methods works. Help?

    TIA
