Ok, I got them. It won't take too long to set it up. Edit Unfortunately I cannot unzip them. I get an error message. But they seem to be the same as the other file I downloaded so I'll see what I can do. Edit again: I installed it from the files I had. I hope that works for you.

I searched and couldn't find a later package. But that one only contains the xml file. As old as that xml file is it wouldn't work with this version of the board but I can install languages by basing them off of the engligh pack. But I need these files in order for it to work. http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/4982

Ok, I changed the permissions so now it works. This is an admin forum so it has a lot of restrictions. I looked at it in both Opera and Firefox and it looks fine. Here's my screenie.
-
It was a setting in the admin control panel. You can attach files now. But in the meantime I'm going to go through each file and check the encoding.
-
Ok, I think that should do it. If you have any other problems let me know and I will try to fix it.

As I posted in the Announcements forum, I've now added a number of language packs to the board. You can select one by going to the bottom left hand side of the page. I've also added something about the languages with a link to our translators on the portal page. I am also working on getting a mod that will allow people to register in their own language. If anyone has a suggestion for other languages, let me know and I will see what I can find.
-
I have added 7 language packs for our non native English speakers. You can select one by looking at the bottom of the page on the left hand side. I am working with someone to create a mod that will allow people to register in their own language. I noticed in the Admin Control Panel that some people are already using them. I hope you find them useful. If there is a specific language that anyone wants let me know and I will see if I can find it. Thanks

Actually I got everything configured but then ran into a problem with virtual hosts. It's supposed to work where you can set it up by name instead of ip address but it kept giving me a conflict and would only recognize one site at a time. I haven't given up but I just haven't had time to work on it lately.

I use grub on my Debian laptop mainly because it was the default and it's fine. But I use lilo for everything else mainly because I started with lilo and it's really easy for me to understand and use. And writing lilo.conf for Gentoo is ridiculously simple. Unfortunately though for some reason Mandriva doesn't like me using lilo in Gentoo. It fails to boot completely. So I have to add Gentoo to Mandriva's lilo and then boot into Mandriva every time I build a new kernel in Gentoo. It's sort of a pain. Oh well!

Yes I quite like having adamw on the board. It's good to have the insight that comes directly from Mandriva itself. I hope he sticks around!

Need some help with Debian [solved]
mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
The odd thing is that when I booted into windows to see if wireless worked it worked immediately. And I have wep encryption set so it shouldn't have worked until I changed the key. But it did. -
Need some help with Debian [solved]
mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
It was automatically assigning it for eth0 but apparantly not for wireless. So I logged into my router and did what it called an ip reservation and assigned it to my acer laptop. I know this isn't ideal but it got it to work. -

I copied and pasted the MAC address but I've triple checked it and it's correct. I also tried channels 1 through 11. And I reset my ESSID name to Barbara. Ok, it's working now. I assigned an ip to it that I got from ifconfig. -

mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
Oh, that was just a typo. It's invalid arguement without the [. And now that I've plugged it into the router eth0 shows connecting to 192.168.0.1. With eth1 it shows Listing on LPF/eth1/ and then my computers mac address. And in my router it shows the Laptop with my correct Mac address. So the router is detecting the wireless connection. -
Need some help with Debian [solved]
mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
I already changed it in the network manager. After I plugged it in directly to the router it detected the new router but I still have no wireless. Here's my /etc/network/interfaces # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface allow-hotplug eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp iface eth1 inet dhcp wireless-essid barbara wireless-key xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx auto eth1 But I think it's having a problem with my wireless key which I copied and pasted directly from my router. I'm getting this message when I restart the network: Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) : SET failed on device eth1; Invalid argument.[ And when I fun ifconfig I get this: eth1 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:off/any Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power:25 dBm RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 -
I posted on the Debian board and so far only one person has responded and it didn't help. I had to change out routers cause my old one kept losing my internet connection. My old one's ip was 192.168.1.1. My new one is 192.168.0.1. When I try and start my wireless network it tries to connect to the old router ip. My /etc/resolv.conf is set to the new router ip. I've change my wep encryption key in /etc/network/interfaces and in the router I set my dhcp server to my gentoo boxes ip. I've never run into this before and I have no idea how to fix it. I'd really appreciate some suggestions.

Challenge! Gentoo xcomposite [resolved]
mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
Well I tried the official nvidia drivers for my card and added a line to the kdmrc file that I found in a Gentoo wiki. -
Challenge! Gentoo xcomposite [resolved]
mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
It's a catch 22 sitituation. I need kcompmgr or I get an error at boot. In order to get kcompomgr I have to use xcomposite as a use flag. If I use xcomposite then I get the errors I started out with. So I'll just live with the error and it's not like I reboot very often and eventually it'll work itself out. It usually does. -
Challenge! Gentoo xcomposite [resolved]
mystified replied to mystified's topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
I changed it to nvidia earlier and I can now load the nvidia driver without the xcomposite errors but it created a different problem for me. Now I have to figure that one out! -
Ok, I posted this on the Gentoo board and nobody could help. tyme is going to say gremlins again I know! Anyway, a couple of days ago I had to reboot and I got an error that composite had crashed twice and then another one saying that I had to enable composite in xorg by add the enable composite lines. Which of course I have. And I have composite as a use flag. ah, my mistake. I looked at the output again and then checked online. I can read DVD's but not burn them. But that still doesn't explain why I can't mount a data dvd and read it. And also I started k3b and it can't detect my cd-rw drive.
