  1. thank you all , but after i ran the nvidai-setteng this message appeared to me "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server. " so i ran the command nvidia-xconfig so i got the login window in the required resolution but after i looged in the resolution get back t o 800*600 again

  4. hi, after i installed mdv 2009.0 i configured the screen resolution to 1024*768 to fit my monitor but suddenly i found the screen resolution converted to 800*600 , so i tried to get it back but i couldn't i'v a nvidia 5200 vga card and compiz, they all working will but how can i get my screen resolution back ? any help will be appreciated..   5. i found a program called aptoncd but unfortunality it's for ubuntu distro only or debian based distro's this tool makes you able to copy all or some of your installed pkg's which you downloaded frome the repositaries so if you reinstalled your distro again you dont need to install it again from the repositories all what you h'v to do is backing up the pkg's from the cd or image file which you created with this tool so, is there is any equale program like this but for mdv ? ..ihope

  7. hi all, i'v mdv 2009.0 and iam working on kde interface , suddenly i found firefox appears in full screen mood and the taskbar disappear and without the title bar and when i tried to uninstall it an error message appears to me and i installed the updates for firefox but nothing happened . any help pleas will be appreciated

  10. i'v mdv 2009.0 and when i play the screen saver or when i left my pc for a while the screen saver turning on but the problem is that the screen saver appers only in the top left corner i tried to fix it but i failed any help will be appreciated
  11. 1-delete all mirrors you downloaded 2- go to easy urpmi 3- dont use the command line 4- just press on the button of adding official mirrors 5- a download dialogue appear to you 6- chose to open it with add urpmi media then press ok 7- do the same thing to plf media 8- open configure you computer then chose configure media source 9- then mark the enable check box if it didnt update the media source press the edit button then chose wget from the downloader list box

  13. after i installed compiz 0.7.7 i found that animation is not like what in the 0.7.6 version which supplemented in mdv 2008.1 and now i'v mdv 2009.0 so how can i get full animations to the compiz ? is ther is a way to update it ? or can i download a full version for compiz and install it ? any help will be appreciated
  14. i installed mandriva 2009.0 the dvd one ,but after i did i restarted my pc then i found ked4.1 converted to kde3.5 i installed mandriva again but the problem still i treid to install the vga driver and i did but the problem still if any one can help ill be apprciate - the other problem is that the package manager is not working evry time i open it it close unexpectedly sorry for my bad english
  15. i h'v a philips webcam ver. spc 315nc and i h'v installed the packeg which is "dkms-gspcav1" i dont know what i h'v to do , what is the next step ? if any one can help , i'll appriciate
  16. ok i'll not change my distro right now but may be we h'v to get ready for that maybe i'll go to fedora anyway iam really like this distro and i dont like it to gone , will see waht will happen in the future thank you guys

  18. i heard thAT MANDRIVA manager has canceld tow contracts for tow of the most important developers in the company and i heard that the finincial structure is in a bad condition or the finincial managment is in its worst shap is that true or false ? and what is the consquinces if this information are true ? is that mean that mandriva is going to its end..? sorry for my english [moved from Forum Discussion by spinynorman]

  21. i have an ati vga card with 32 mega bit memory and i want to run compiz on my mandriva 2008.1 with 512 mg ram and 2.5 processor after i installed compiz i found nothing happened then i got a shell script which is checking my computer to know if i can run compiz or not and i got this result [hossam@hoss Desktop]$ ./compiz-check Gathering information about your system...
