  1. Upgraded to X 4.3, then my cable internet connection stopped working. It would not pull the IP from the modem, and wouldn't change the connection from being 'lan' I reinstalled twice, with no success... What can I do? When I run the wizard, I select cable, and it asks if I'd like to apply the changes. I say yes, and it reverts back to lan... I tried uninstalling the nic, and reinstalling it, then entering interactive setup on boot, and tried to se it up from there, no luck. The way I originally set it up, I installed with an ISA modem, and used it until I got cable. I then installed the nic in my system, ran the config tool during interactive setup, and when the gui came up, everything worked great.. Any suggestions?
  2. I posted a similar question to the hardware forum... I sometimes have problems with sound skipping when system sounds are being played, or when playing files through xmms. When I was setting up my hardware, I remember seeing a buffer size or priority or something along those lines....Thought maybe if I increase the size.... Any ideas? Thanks.
  3. I have mplayer installed, I'm not sure how to configure it to play on my video card... usng SIS 530 agp (8Mb)... what ouptput should I be using? Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
  4. I have been looking for a good video player, that support at least avis, mpeg, rm, and a few of the other common formats.... I came across xine, which seems like it may do what I need it to (I'm at work, so I can't try it right now)... Anyone have any suggestions on programs that work well? Matt
  5. I have a Creative sb16 pci (got it from walmart... dont ask) works fine, but in mms it tends to skip a lot. This is probably a problem with xmms, but I did notice that the card is installed as an ensoniq card (which is technically a 'creative' card...) Just wondering if this is normal, or if there's another driver I can use that may perform better? Thanks - Matt
  6. :P Yeah I figured it out, I install the same libc package, actually didn't have to restart anything, worked great after installing the package. Thanks for the quick reply, I know where to come with problems from now on. Matt
  7. I'm having problems getting Shockwave, Flash, and Java objects to display in Netscape 7.1 (Mozilla and Konquerer as well...) I downloaded and installed the flash player, as directed by the plugin download page, after installation, it told me to delete xpti.dat.... I did remove this file, but I still can't get the flash plugin, shockwave, or java to install properly... I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.... please help? Thanks, Matt
