  1. Sorry, but I have set a limit on the/incoming folder. If you wish to upload any large files , let me know. we were unaware of that, sorry :-/ guess we should have discussed it with you before taking action.
  2. scoopy and i had uploaded the iso's, did they not stick or something? (just curious)
  3. what terminal are you using?
  4. my only guess is that for some odd reason the program just needs to run as root. who knows why.
  5. MCC->Hardware->Display Manager Chooser i admit putting it under hardware is a rather odd choice, but whatever, it's there :-) i think most people are complaing about the KDM looking ugly because it's actually mdkKDM, you can switch to the regular KDM in the same spot mentioned above. (I don't use graphical login anymore, so I don't know for sure.) as for the error, i get the same thing when starting artswrapper from a console as a regular user.
  6. this means you are missing some neccessary header files. I'll see if i can hunt them down and figure out what they belong to. not sure right now. anyone else know off-hand? edit: make sure you have mod_perl-devel and mod_perl-common installed...i think they are part of these packages. also make sure you have perl-GTK2-devel. you should be able to find these in the software manager in mandrake control center.
  7. i built from CVS source, didn't install the RPM, and it worked fine with the default setup of 9.1 but yes, if the RPM requires gtk2.2, you's gonna have's to gets it. somewhere eh.
  8. i'm running it on MDK9.1, CVS version of course, no problems on my end.
  9. started transfer of CD2, gftp reports approx. 500kb/s, 20 minutes to finish. i have a feeling this is bound to change, but if not, oh well. if no one volunteers for CD3 i _may_ be able to upload it, but i'll have to check how much upload i have left of my 1.5gb limit (damn school network).
  10. tyme

    install

no, that should work out just fine ep1 :-)
  11. i can offer up one disc, no problem (as in uploading it to someplace). it's more than one that would run into issues :-) addition: if scoopy is taking disc 1, i'll be glad to upload disc 2.
  12. yeah, it's rarely linked to by mandrake (so no one really knows about it), but it has some nice speed, especially since i'm on the same network.
  13. i'd give people access to it on my system if it wasn't for the damned 1.5gb upload/download per week restriction i have. thankfully since the mirror i use is within the school network it doesn't count towards that total.
  14. joe: i've noticed some new packages that weren't in previous releases. ethtool is one of them, my friend uses it a lot for configuring his ethernet (he's a debian user). I'm currently learning how it works. Other than that, you have the new kernel, and just the regular large amount of updated software.
  15. worked fine when i just now tried it, maybe it was a glitch...try it again :-).
  16. i got the RC3 yesterday, which became final today, so ha! i laugh at all of you attempting to get it today! anyways...if you want a mirror that isn't listed on the page (it's the mirror i use because it's on my school network) go here: ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distr...ns/mandrake/iso it resides in PA (USA).
  17. a little bit of info that would help: what kind of modem do you have? what kind of printer do you have? and is this a burner or just a regular cd-rom? that info will help narrow down possible issues.
  18. 3rd CD still has useful packages in it. it had them in 9.0 too, it's just the less used ones...usually development packages.

    What about slicker?

i believe slicker is still in the early development stages, there is a CVS that has parts of it...just check out there site. slicker.sourceforge.net
  20. tyme

    check out Pekwm

well, as for 9.1, i haven't done a fresh install since RC1...so i don't know what the major "noticeable" differences are just yet. going to do a full reinstall once i get the powerpack i plan on ordering.
  21. i did an upgrade, not planning on a full re-install until i get my powerpack (which i still need to pre-order). mainly because configuring it to my liking takes more time than i really have right now...school and all that.
  22. checked the login prompt after install (i don't go straight into GUI anymore) it reads, and i quote: Mandrake Linux release 9.1 (Bamboo) seems like the final to me.
  23. tyme

    check out Pekwm

right....i'm gonna need to check out this pekwm after i install "RC3"...it's interesting me quite a bit... that and i need to install rox-filer and get that configured and looking nice. changing the icons takes too much work lol. edit: and if you could post those styles for download somewhere, that'd be great :-D
