  1. Have had some weird issues with my CDROM. At startup i get the message: Checking for new hardware FAILED I have a removeable Dell CDRW/DVD Combo and it has always worked fine in Man 9.1, it was detected fine when i first installed and has worked perfectly until now. I have started and restart with the drive out then back in to initialise the new hardware process but when it finishes configuring i still get FAILED and cannot access /mnt/cdrom and get an input/output error (in a terminal) or device removed (in konqueror) really frustrating!
  2. I am having no luck using xvideo with DVD players (mplayer and vlc) in Man 9.1. The only video output i can use is x11 and the performance is very poor. I know there is an xfree patch to improve framebuffer performance for xvideo and was wondering if anyone can help me get it working. Apparently it is as easy as copying a driver http://ltswww.epfl.ch/~dsanta/resources/linux but I am having big difficulties. Has there been an rpm compiled that inlcudes this support for xvideo? There is one for suse... I have numerous posts at linuxquestions.org - there are a few of us trying to figure it out! :-D
  3. Is my Dell CDRW/DVD Combo drive compatible with Mandrake 9.1? It's a samsung sn-324b. I checked the mandrake hardware page and it's not there but we all know that's not comprehensive! :D
  4. I installed Gaim 0.72 and I have added a link in the KDE menu using menudrake but how do I add the gaim icon? It doesn't seem to appear in the list that menudrake offers...
  5. Hello. I've just tried to run Xine for the first time. I have Man9.1, installed the simple way and i'm using KDE 3.1. Am a total newbie so quite clueless. Anyway, went into the KDE menu, click xine in multimedia, it opened, then quit out again. same happens over and over. i have downloaded the newest libs, curl and ui rpm's but i'm not going to try them till i check that i'mnot missing something simple!
