whiteglass is interesting though, because the cursor is kind of transparent !
-
so ?
-
Yep, keep us updated on this !
Any idea if the mandrake team gonna put use freedesktop xserver at some point ?
-
-
I've heard that with kde 3.3 ans the X.org server we can have real transprency (especially in konsole).
Any info on this ?
-
hum, i'm on cooker, and it seems a lot of them ain't working.
"whiteglass" is the only one which made a difference.
-
Thanks !
X.org should add a feature to do this without restarting X...

I wonder what is the CPU usage on using software raid vs normal setup.
anyone has benchmarks ?

Sherpa :
Using several mirrors is a good idea because all mirrors are not always sync.
checkout mirrorwatch :
http://www.acert.pt/~fribeiro/mirrorwatch/
I use 3 mirrors at the same time (really usefull with cooker)
There's an easy way to setup several mirrors :
URPMI.SETUP
this package is in contrib. Just download it and run it has root
#urpmi urpmi.setup
#urpmi.setup

if you want to use software raid, just say so at install time when doing custom partitionning.
-
software raid (no problem) or hardware raid with a special controller ? (probably problems)
-
if you just want bleeding edge stuff, go cooker !
But gnome 2.6 should arrive in communityin some time...

crashdamage says taht vnc can be made secure with ssh too (like the tunneling option of X).
I think that vnc is lighet so faster tant x isn't it ?
Furthermore, it allows to share desktop other mulitiple OS.

For the six pack example, you do have the right to only buy one bottle if you want !
I do this for milk or water bottles for example.
AFUL wants to be able to do the same thing with computer hard&soft.

He dismantled a McDonald.
Et c'est vraiment rigolo !
-
so may be we have to ask for that feature in the next version ?
-
Try Filelight !

Since KDE 3.2, i switched from Mozilla to konqueror as my primary browser.
But i miss one feature : the ability to open a set of bookmarks with only one click.
With mozilla, you can register a set of differents sites in different tabs as ONE bookmark, and then open all of them by clicking this bookmark.
How can i do this with konqueror ?
-
add plf to your repository, then it's just
#urpmi musepack

I'm working on mandrake ONLY since last fall (9.1)
I put 9.2 and 10 on my computer, even cooker ! (cooker updates are easier with a 4000 ko/s connexion :)
i'm doing mostly paper work stuff and a little programming.
I got through some problems exchanging documents with others (on windows), so i eventually decided to use crossover office with M$ office 2000. Works really nice !
Grendal, don't you know that ProEngineer Wildfire runs natively under linux ?
-
i think controller are supported but not the hardware raid
there still software raid ...
-
With exactly the same configuration, the 10 Official booted from the cdrom drive where the 10 community failed.
Just to let you know !
:woops:
