  1. Hello,

I just got an acer travel mate 630

I've got a huge problem with ACPI, while booting, just after entering stage 5, i got a "critical temperatiure reached (17 C), systeme shutdown"

After some research, i saw that others had succes with acpi on this laptop (with a gentoo).

I tried a knoppix, and acpi worked fine

I tryed the latest cooker, and same bug with acpi

I found some doc here :

    http://acpi.sourceforge.net/documentation/thermal.html

Seems like mandriva CRT value is way too low

"The _CRT object declares the critical temperature at which OSPM must perform a critical shutdown"

Do you know in wich file i can tweak this _CRT value ?

  2. Hi,

I'm trying to connect to my box with ssh -X but i don't get the graphics.

I think i need some configuration tweaks for sshd, but i can't find on the web what to do.

    Can someone tell me ?

    Thanks :help:

  3. Thanks for detailing more my proposal of using ftp install.

I come from debian, and liked the mini images for installing.

Since i've discovered i can do this in Mdk too, i've nver burned full CD anymore :-)

And by the way, downloading directly from the network is faster than my cdrom drive ! :-)

  4. Have you seen the new mobos from Iwill and tyan ?

Tyan : The one in the center

    Iwill :

    i_ad6.jpg

    nForce4 pro

Bi-opteron : two FX55 with watercooling for me please

    8 slots ram : let's start with 4GB :)

SLi : two 6800ultra with the new nv41 chip please

pci-X : in case serious hardware raid is needed

    And an Mdk64 10.1

Who wants to help me fund a new CAD workstation ?

    (ProEngineer works natively under GNU/Linux)

  5. Tested the kde version.

First try : out of sync monitor ! :furious3:

Second try on another computer : works nicely. Only two languages. No easy way to configure keyboard.... :o

    Played a little with it.

    - suze kde 3.3 is not very different from mandrake kde 3.2 (and 3.3 pim)

Only differences i spotted : kde configuration menu, integration of rss feeds, send to contact in konqueror (at least !)

    - yast seems interesting. GUI for installing soft is better than MCC

    - an utility to switch profiles in the systray; (like network configuration...) Very nice idea

    - OOo with kde style buttons. Nice !

    - i like a lot the default window decoration (see my post in art&design) :headbang:

    - discovered two new prog : gwenview (nice picture viewer integrated to konqueror), and kitchensync (what does it do ? I couldn't guess !)

So i keep my MDK, thanks, but will submit the idea of the switch profile and OOo kde style buttons for MDK 10.2

  6. The simpa mailing list is not working ?

I think you should post you question on the cooker mailing list.

I'm surprise to hear about the ext2 resize. It's not in QT parted !

I though resiserFS had an edge over ext2 because it's possible to resize reiserfs.

Is it possible to resize ext2 or ext3 partitions ?
