I have a USB DVD drive and want to install Mandrake Linux LE 2005 DVD edition, but my motherboard doesn't use usb as a boot device except if it's a floppy usb or zip disk usb. Is there a floppy boot disk with usb dvd drivers?

...so if i enable the sata or disable that will end the message? thanks

This really isn't a linux question but I can't seem to email the manufacturer. when my computer boots it shows the video bios then detects hard drives, but right after that a message on the screen say Bios not installed... then i loads linux. The motherboard is a Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 that I just bought. I use mandrake 10.0 dual booted with XP but this has nothing to do with this error... please if anyone could tell me what this means I would be gratefull

In version 9.x whenever I tried to use a ***.rpm file it would automatically install or attemp to, but in version 10 I get a quesion asking what program to associate with rpms. What program do I use?

Ok as I see it Mandrake has a problem sometimes intalling a bootloader if Mandrake is not in the first or second partition of a hard drive and in the case of more than 2 hardrives it must be in the first/second partion of the first hard drive or if there is only one partition in the first hd then it must be installed in the first partition of the second.

I dual boot one hard drive is Win XP the other Mandrake 9.2. Is there a way not only to read from the XP drive but to write to it from mandrake?

hey, I managed to get a linux copy of loki's sim city 3000 and I get an error message when trying to run it... sc3u: relocation error: sc3u: symbol _dl_global_scope, version GLIBC_2.0 not def ined in file ld-linux.so.2 with link time reference I haven't a clue to what this means can anyone help me?

I won't duel boot, but you're right it runs faster in linux except for the mouse it moves slower. I have another question at the bottom right of my screen sometimes a "rectangular thing" appears does this happen on anyone elses? What is it?

a linux install is an install I did with an installer from a webpage to make a native linux version it doesn't include stuff from NWN that can't be used by linux such as the Toolset. My question is to get the Toolset working (I have winex3.1 which someone told my will work) I have tried copying the toolset from a windows install but it still doesnt' work. Do I have to actually use a windows install to get it to work with winex3.1? NWN is actually the only game I use. If it doesn't work with linux then I'm going back to windows.

NWN is my favorite game but I will not use it on linux until the toolset works, but my question is does it? If I use a windows install with winex3.1 will I be able to use the toolset and how do I get a windows install? I have used the linux installer but it doesn't install the toolset and I have copied the toolset from a windows machine and put it in my NWN directory (of a linux install), but the toolset won't run with winex3.1 that way either. Do I have to have a windows istall to run the toolset with winex3.1?
