    Pagers??

    check out 3ddesktop!
  2. i've been having this same issue. On a 64 mb GeForce2 it thinks that 1152*864 is the max rez. I have a 21" monitor. I want my 1600*1200!
  3. definately grab wineX if you need it for games.
  4. Glad to hear it worked out for you. I'll try to be as non-technical as I can here: open up a terminal and do the following at the prompt: su >enter< you will be prompted for root password password >enter< now you are the root account.at the prompt type: mcc This is the mandrake control center. From here you can use the package manager to see if wine is installed, and if not it will install it for you.
  5. I will check out yanc. On the monitor issue, I have a dell Mxxx I forget it now, but XFdrake sees the monitor and defaults to it, so I changed to a generic 1600x1200. Nothing changed. When I went back to the dell, I can select it but it tells me no plug and play monitor detected. So I think it definately has to do with the monitor. I may just find myself entering in all of this by hand.
  6. OK, I did that, and I have nvidia.o in the directory you listed. I logged out, restarted X and then logged into KDE. Still some BS rez. I'm at a loss here. everything says 1600x1200, but its not. This only happened after the nvidia drivers. It worked perfectly at that rez before the nvidia drivers.
  7. I'm about ready to send this nvidia card through the window and go buy an ATI. This is a nightmare. I'd be interested to see someone's /etc/XF86Config-4 though.
  8. This is infuriating. It says that the rez is 1600x1200 in drakconf, it is more like 1152x768
  9. OK, I can boot into X now. I see the nvida splash screen as X is starting up, but its in a really low resolution. I can't get X to go to 1600x1200. And when I try to do what bvc suggested just now, I see this: [root@Source pwolfe1]# modprobe NVdriver modprobe: Can't locate module NVdriver [root@Source pwolfe1]# insmod NVdriver insmod: NVdriver: no module by that name found [root@Source pwolfe1]#
  10. Well, I'm still having the same problem. This time it was installed on a fresh 9.1 system. I am still having the same problems as above. These were the src rpms too. They built just fine, installed fine, but on a reboot, if have load "glx" X won't start.
  11. up and running. I got in some kind of trouble with our CITO today for hogging all the bandwidth, but 9.1 has been more than worth it so far!
  12. tyme, your site won't let me download cd2?!
  13. Thanks for the links. I wish my school would let me mirror!

Can you post the contents of your /etc/XFConfig-4 on the next time you have 4.3 up?
  15. spain was the one workin me at 13KB
  16. I had to stop my downloads. I was pulling em in at 13KB per sec. it was taking forever. I'll grab em later tonight when the kazaa users at my school go to sleep.
  17. The mirrors are swamped. good luck.

  19. I was going to say that the french sites had rc3, but here's 9.1 Final! ftp://hq.alert.sk/pub/linux/distributions...s/mandrake/iso/
  20. Why does the article reference the "one iso file" I see three.
  21. idesk is sweet and adds a whole new element to flux. I run flux at home because my box is too slow to snap the way kde does at work. Flux and idesk and 3ddesktop have been able to provide my box with new life and give me some eyecandy at the same time.
  22. beware that when you go to install win95 again, it is going to overwrite the master boot record, and lilo along with it. you'll have to doctor your MBR after the windows install.
