  1. OK. Check your urpmi configuration. Use Easy-Urpmi at the top of the page. Be sure to select 2007 as your distro and configure main, contrib, updates, plf-free and plf-nonfree. If you do this, simply inputing "urpmi dkms-ati" will take care of all depends for you. Check it out.

    Error! Could not locate fglrx.ko.gz for module ati in the DKMS tree.

    You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.17-5mdv (x86_64) first.

  2. Actually, it is a good idea to try to resolve issues before making changes. If the problem is sourced in knowledge, it may rear its ugly head again, and you'll still have to solve it! ;)

    One other thing i tried was using gnome as my startup and for some reason the text and screens are just 200% better than under KDE. Don't know why but not complaining

    Well i think i have tried everything to get this blo**y ati card (x800) to work, but it still refuses to give me 3d so in the best tradition possible i am going to BIN it. Damm thing never really ran well under windows either.

     

    So I am going to get a nvidia card.

    So for all you people out there which one should i get (nothing to pricey please)

    Well another noob question ..... I want to in stall the new ati drivers ..... when i d/l it saves file to desktop... it's a run file.

     

    1. how do i run this file

     

    2. should i put it into a certian directory if so how?

     

    3. then what

    what i want to do is use my comp for storing photos etc, but allow other machine to access them and print them also for games like Unreal tournement

    so my son can kick my ass at it. (he uses me as canon fodder guess thats what dad,s are for)

    Well got mandriva on both home comps everthing working ok :D (except my ati card but it,s livable till i get more knowledge on linux) both connect to router and internet working okay. My question is how do i set up a home network so as to access file games on both machines any help we be most welcome.

    I have 2 comps in my household and this week-end i am going to install mandriva. one machine is 32bit and other is 64 bit both have ati cards (reading other fourms there seems to be problems with ati cards and linux). I intend to install the 64bit software on the 64bit machine should i be aware of anything
