  1. u mean to tell me that ur cedega says that there is no gl?? cause my cedega says the same. I've installed the nv drivers. Well, it says that there is no 3d accel, but there is gl. Also when i try to run games, they also get the transparency effect. I mean, instead of only beeing applied to the windows, while i play i can see what is on my desktop and all. pretty nasty thing. Also my unreal tournament goes into virtual ressolution, and i can't play. :(

  2. I am trying to compile superkaramba, but when i run configure, it tells me that it cannot continue cause of missing python headers:

this is what i get. I've installed all that contained python in it's name, from mandriva cd's. What should i do??

  3. Warning, the nvidia 1.0-9626 is a BETA driver. It is not different from 1.0-1625. If u install this, kde will not work with it. The latest working version is still 8774

  4. well, dono if it was the dm or not, but i changed it to gdm, and was able to loggin as root in graphical way. There i managed to enable xglx and now i have all of the translucency effects. What i don't like is that xgl is really slow, and still the game problem is not solved, its worse.

  5. i think it's a whole much easier to be able to run the gui as root, and allmost all apps work as root. That warning that shows up when u start the gui should be enough, and who ever is still a newbie who doesn't know what he is doing, the warning screen should be enough. Who ever ignores it, is going on his own responsability. I tryed doing stuff from a normal user, but it's a pain in the A**. For me is crucial that i can run the gui as root, so they should reenable it.

  6. noticed that root acces is disabled. Tha is why i changed to gdm, in wich i can access the root. I think that not beeing able to acces the root is a very disturbing thing, because u can't do everything from console. They should reenable the root acces. Anyway,i finally managed to enable xgl, but it is veeeeeery slow. Is it because i'm using gdm or is it normal??

  7. heard about that 3d desktop, but i can't use any of glx or aiglx. they are greyed out. Someone sayd to install the drivers provided at the urmpi mirrors. Thos dkms-nvidia8774plf, but i couldn't. I installed dkms, and when i try to install dkms-nvidia it says unsatisfied dependency==nv8774 and when i try to install nvidia8774plf it says unsatisfied dkms-nvidia.dono what to do. I also tryed the beta drivers, but when i install them, kde just goes into a blank screen, and when i tryed to runa drak3 it says to activate aiglx, i select it, hit ok, loggout, but when i logg in again, the same screen with 3d config comes on again.i also tried selectin glx but still the same thing happened.

  8. don't exactly understand what u mean by cycling thorugh displays. I just try to start unreal tournament, and instead of going to real 800x600 it goes into virtual 800x600. And it sucks, cause the gampley is so slow. My desktop is 1024x864 with 85hz.i have also reinstalled the video driver and still nothing. maybe because of the desktop manager?? how do i change my dm??

  9. ummm. guis i ran in the same problem. But when i went and downloaded nvidia-8774 rpm and dkms-nvidia and tryed to install it it sayd that dkms not satisfied. i installed the dkms minimal package from mandriva cds but still the same thing. is there something else i should install??

  10. ok, when i try to start ut2004demo, it goes to a ugly virtual resolutiion instead of going to real 800-600. This happenes with everything else. It's not the game cause it works in suse. anyone knows what the problem is??

  11. when i sayd nv i ment the version downloaded from nvidia, 1.0-8774. I use fx5200. They are on the medium?? :o i still couldn't fuind it. . Hmm maybe i havent searched right, but i remember that i typed kernel-source in the search box, and it only found the kernel it's self

  12. well, i just installed the nv driver 1.0-8774 and i tryed to activate xgl, aiglx was greyed out. it told me to log out in order to activate changes. I did, and when i logged in again, the ressolution was extremly small, no effect what so ever and when i wen't to the config screen again both xgl and aiglx were greyed out. did i do something wrong??

    Edit:

Now i just found that when i run unrel tournament, instead of going to 800x600, it just go into a virtual ressolution. Did i break anything??

  13. :D that helped in deed. I just found the kernel and i'm downloadin. I'm gonna take a look at urpmi after nvidia install. Not true, that rpm package only ocupies about 18mb, so it wouldn't take much space. Suse is including the kernel sources and is much easier to use. Anyway, i see that mandriva is quite fast and performant. :D

  14. I just installed mandriva from the four cd's. I'm a current suse user and i have a lot of a dificulty installing the nv driver. I downloaded the .run package and when i login as root in a console,,run the installer i get this:Kernel sources not installed. Aren't they on the medium??

I couldn't fuind them. Please help.
