  1. hi,

    other great site for desktop backgrounds (aka wallpapers!) is digitalblasphemy.com, i got this one from someone in this forum... its a great place for wp.

    also, for icons, the www.gentoo.org is another good place, i just love all the "bubble" kind of icons, and they have a pack (tar.gz) with over 100...

    then the colors of title bars and WM, its up to you to find one that suits your taste... as rcaux sayd, fluxbox its a real good one! (and the themes at rcaux site are real nice...)

    i found that making your own theme, although it maybe a long process (the selection and all ;)) its worth it![/u]

  2. Hi,

    well, i dont know if they made some changes about that in Gaim, the change log doesnt say anything, but for what i read in slashdot, microsoft is going to start charging 3rd clients to use their network, they claim its being done because they cant do charity (in the sense they wont give something for free when they have commercial versions of their software --trillian-- using msn network.)

    So i guess thats it, in a way im happy, i always thought of using Gaim with msn it was supporting them and theyr stupid monopoly... and for me, i wont be using any msn mssgr. they keep getting uglier every day, just like windows... all the freaken soft from them is turning "user-friendly" to the point where it looks damn stupid, the worst of them all was MSN Explorer. damn, i think it lasted about 2 minutes in my windows system (when i had and used one).

    lets just hope they start charging the messager too, so they will run out of users.

  3. Hi, thnx for your thoughts.

    About Zaurus, i dont think i can manage to get one in this side of the earth... maybe somewhere... but it would be real expensive...

    for example de palm125 are 160U$S, and thats a cheapy, i really dont want to name the iPAQ....

    the thing is that the BE-300 is from a friend so i can get it for around U$S160/170 and its color, it has 16mb flash... but! as named it has winCE...

    what i want to know, is what i could do with something that has wince, and what do YOU do with your linux PDA's.?

    thnx!

  4. Hi

    Im thinking about buying a palm, or more precisely a Cassiopeia B-300, im thinking about 150U$D, so if someone has some recommendation with this...

    i mean, what you think and what you know about palms and Linux support.... and if you know a better opcion or whatever...

    in short: PDA's with linux support, not to expensive and your thoughts on B-300!

  5. HAHAHA :P :lol: :D

    Sorry, i had a problem installing imlib2 and searching i ended up in a thread of yours wich had the answer about using freetype 1 !! has nothing to do with shutdown!!!

    anyway, i still dont understand why i cant get halt working... its pretty weird becouse i dont think all the user who have an LFS log in as roots, or su to root just to poweroff.

    i will keep looking.

  6. WOW : :shock:

    I leave you guys for one day and you flood my thread with good intentions!!!

    Thanks everyone! and sorry i couldnt get online sooner, i will check every post and see what i can get of them (it seems there is some goooood stuff!!)

    I couldnt get to compile iDesk yet, for some reason im having several problems with it. Also, like LiquidZoo sayd im going to recompile the Eterm becouse it doesnt have pixmap support (whatever that means, --guess its something with pictures libraries and such) so Esetroot wasnt working.

    Im not at home now, so im going to try everything tomorrow... i think...

    Thanks again! and dont go to far... just in case.

    By the way im using devel version, 0.9.4, mmmm... for about 2/3 weeks now. havent had any problems except that i cant change VC while its running becouse it makes some horrible fuzz and i cant see anything in any VC, so i have to touch the three M$ copyrighted --- CTRL+ALT+DEL for anyone who didnt got the message! ;)

  8. hi, thanks i will try the background right now, about the issues, right now, the only one is that the icons when i load X get over the applications or whatever i have 'in their space' but they just need to be clicked to go down again...

  9. Hey, there were so many post of flux and all have so many items that i decided to give this one its one thread, hope its ok.

    I want to give flux a background, ive been trying using Esetroot, but i coulnd find out how exactly should i do that, also there was this other command bgset i think....

    Im using fbdesk right now, but if someone tells me how the heck do i get idesk working i will switch over....

    that it, i want a background so i can make my Eterm trans and have a fashion shot at my desk to show off to my friends....!

  10. Hi,

    well i coulnd get the freakin iDesk working so, im using fbdesk wich is not as good but, its something... also there is fluxspace and for the configuration of flux, there is this prog at freshmeat.net fluxconf but i havent tested it, i normally edit the files by hand its fast and works...

    the files for configuring flux are at ~/.fluxbox dir, they are: menu, init, keys and maybe another one, also there is "icons" if you install fbdesk.

    bvc, a big THANK YOU, no more comments.

  11. Hi,

    yes i had copied those files (but java and null have nothing to do with the flash)

    also i read all the faq and everything...

    i finally got over it doing this:

    i remembered that mozilla needed to be run as root for the first time, for the profile and such, so i thought that maybe when you install a plugin you might have to do the same (with firebird though) so to do this i had to be root, launched a Eterm and "su" to root, then launched "firebird" and i read the above:

     /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 file missing .... bla bla bla...

    so i started looking and i didnt had that file, it seems is a bug and you have to link it to "/usr/lib/libstdc++.so" so the solution was:

    [crow@lfs /usr/MozillaFirebird/plugins]$ ln -s /usr/lib/libstdc++.so /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3

    im writing all these so when someone uses the search with something involving the above problem will find the solution... damn, i wonder why someone did it before so i could spare the time!... jeje

    good luck everyone with that!

    bye the way!!

    loved the link!! no better way for showing off my brand new flash player!!!

    thanks!!!

  12. Im having this issue with Firebird, i cant see this page:

    www.dattatec.com

    correctly, it tells me it needs (application/x-shockwave-flash) plugin.

    well i downloaded the Flash plugin, installed several times, and cant get it working

    i already searched in the forum for such a problem and in google, i just coulndt find a solution, its always the same, "you have to copy libflashplayer.so and flashplayer.xpt to the plugins directory in the firebird main directory, or to the profile"

    i tryed both, first one, then the other, then the 2. and still doesnt work. Also macromedia 's flash test page doesnt work.

    http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/welcome/

    is this me or whats going on??

  14. mmm ... themes... yes i saw some, but didnt find them to my liking...

    i just want a good background (im going to see if i can get fluxspace working) and wanted transparency for the Eterm and rounded borders for the windows.... thats what i aim for...

    if someone can throw a tip, its welcome!

  15. Hi,

    I had problems with idesk too, i just downloaded the last version and was thinking in trying again, anyway, im using fbdesk for now, you didnt posted your ~/.fluxbox/icons so im posting mine and you check it out and compare. (mine works!)

    ~/.fluxbox/icons

    [Desktop Entry]

    Name=ROX Filer

    Exec=rox

    [Desktop Entry]

    Name=XMMS

    Exec=xmms

    Icon=/home/crow/iconos/l33t_MED_xmms2.png

    Pos= 100 200

    [end]

    [Desktop Entry]

    Name=Gaim

    Exec=gaim

    Icon=/home/crow/iconos/l33t_IMS_gaim2.png

    Name=Eterm

    Exec=Eterm

    Icon=/home/crow/iconos/l33t_TER_Eterm.png

    what i dont like (and have to see if can change) is that sometimes the icons get "over" the applications, so you have to click them to go down again.

    in the Exec= parameter you have to enter the command you use in console to launch the application, its case sensitive and also if its not in /usr/bin you should enter the full path (i think)

    hope this helps!

    bye the way, i saw your screenshots, where you had some terminals without the borders and also some with rounded borders, and wanted to know how you did it. (i have flux)

  16. HEY!!

    Well, im really happy, thanks all, now, wvdial works for normal users and i think the sound problem was that you NEED, no matter if you give "all users" read and execute perms, to belong to the "audio" group. so thats it.

    The only thing is missing, its the partial maximize, so i dont have to scroll trough the desktop to see the maximized window. but it seems noone knows how, and i dont know how to search on google or anyware about this one, im writing right now to the BLFS mailing list to see...

  17. Yes, i thought that too, but well, at least they made a comparison involving Linux, its something!

    I think im going to send an email, with two thing in mind, congratulate (maybe it will happen more often) and make some recommendations... if there is anyone who would like to do the same so we actually get listen... you are welcome...
