    Tweaking the ram and the graphic card [be changing the card physically or trying another drivers] could be the way.

     

    I recently have a issue with a graphic card that slow the entire desktop [s3 Graphics UniChrome IGP over an Phenom X3 with 4 Gb of ram] and due a poor driver implementation it run like a celeron @ 300 Mhz bro!!!

    2nd. While trying to relax a bit in my room , I intended to hear a bit of music lost in my ext3 partition, go to xterm

     

    and then

    the gtk warning is safe to skip [i think so], but the setup_ctrlsocket function failed to unlink and assign the sock to xmms , I tryed to umount /remount all fs, despite the fact I have only the nfs client not the server , I cant delete the file staled [even when booting a diferent os. v.gr: puppy and solaris].

     

    Any help and comments apreciated and will be rewarded with a nice Santa Claus visit!!!! =p

    thanks arctic, no the 3d is not enabled [in fact I dunno how to do that?=)]

    I get curious bcause when the fail suceeds my mouse section in gnome System > mouse dont work, so I trace back the link and I found the gsynaptics pack is NOT installed by default so hopefully instaleed the pack and happy end bro. Thanks.

     

    So at the end if you are using gnome 2.24 with a synpatics touchapd you must install the gsynpatics add in order to make your cursor again.

    YO there Im looking and even when its not a kernel panic Im kinda curious about it , I just upgraded to mdv 2009 x86_64 frsh install

    and after a couple of time using gnome 2.24 my mouse pointer freezes his position and dont move anymore [but still make click and select]

    Whoah!!! thanks ianw1974 and needie thats support and thanks for check this, explicit im a fan of downloading from certains servers where i must provide an user pass but my combo its right and in fact to avoid misspeled links I use a generated list [exported as csv but then edited for me with gedit to plain text, so csv its only that three letters].

    The wget1.9 i got from the gnu ftp [i did it half sleep and didnt notice it were newer releases =3] im gonna try downloading wirh urpmi to see what happens.

    Yo there people how are ya doing, Im writing this ; I just upgraded [fresh install] to mdv 2009.0 64 and try to use wget with the next syntax

     

    wget --http-user=me --http-password=whoknows -i /there/was/my/download/file.csv

     

    and then what , the wget refuses to download with the right user/psw string , verify the existence of the files, check 1000s times the spelling of it, and the right syntax [of course man wget], so I down the wget 1.9 and try this and went well, [the only hack its the passwd instead of password in syntax =p)

    but then what I would prefer to use a wget a little more updated , dont know if this is a bug, or whatever,, so anyonw knows the version of wget used in 2008.1? and by the way the version used in 2009.0? I just delete with rpm -e wget and forgot to check the version. :wall: :wall:

    Yo there, <Im just finishing installing mdv 2008 official for x86_64, everything seems to be fine, but I have a trouble with wireless devices, in mdv 2007.1 i was using an atheros 5005g chipset to work out but due circumstances I had to add an wireless usb adapter from billionton , it seems to be using a ralink 802.11bg (it says so) and there was no problem, but when using 2008 the atheros its fine but has no enough signal to work out, then when plug the usb or when acces the connection panel having the usb pluged since the beginning the system first slow down (like slow motion) and then freezes completely. dmesg dont show nothing , in using an acer aspire 5050.

  12. Mandriva hangs on when trying to use sata sil

    Hello there folks, I have a issue with my laptop an L35 from Toshiba, first it comes with the xp and set up mdv 2007 and work for a while so, but I try to install 98 in this (I blew up the ntfs partition, and Ill adore it jeje), the installation of this dont work, so I scrash the bootloader and the launch the rescue mode and give it to rewrite the lilo sequence, but here fails and tell me abut the size of the kernel its too big(?) dunno why because i dont touch any of the ext3 fs, then going to reinstall the whole mdv but when trying the partitions fail in the chipset recognition (I know it uses the sata sil driver) and mdv cant see a disk and says it fails in /usr/share/blabla.py or whatever on the line XXXX. Lucky I have another empty partition and try with fedora 4 and it went well with the same sata sil driver so any sugestion about how to reinstall mdv on the system?

  17. X doesn't load the window managers

    Hi there im in s midlle of a strange problem, I have conf the load to autoload a windowmanager (from the installation) but after time the gdm refuses to load it and send me back to the log on screen and it dont load nothing of the managers installed I can start at least one of them trough this way, I launch a normal users failsafe and issue a direct call to the x11 serve indicates the manager to load. Hopefully this works but indeed, how can fix the refusing dm/gdm to load right the system, I mean, not only to autoenter n session, as well to load the wm? (isnt for that dm/gdm was done_?)

    Hi ti everyone!

    Here are the results

    The way its to force to fsck.ext3 to check the whole drive, since the superblock, the journal id, the ext3 flags and other stuff were corrupted (I dunno why)=() I have to play with numbers trying with each and everyone number to guess the superblock even when I know the system was baes on 4k blocks it take a little time, but I found the right superblock et voila, after 4 checks of fsck the errors were corrected and finish it. I can use the disk again and my files have 100% of integrity. My bad I dont think to dump the superblocks founded right.

    Ill try to post it later.

    I dont know but try instead use the x264 from videolan use the x264 wich comes with the standar codecs package if this dont work try cheking the options of the configure script; it should be a part where you can manually do reference to the x264 lib then enter the location of your libraries.

    If ya dont know where is this, use locate x264 and put the locations showed there.

    Even when here appear a driver degined for redhat , there was a reason, mandriva 2006 and 2007 has a severe incompatibility with this hardware specific (all the hda-intel soundcores laptop based) and this was the driver with seemed to work, but seemed only because there is no sound with this and with the mdv driver and general driver for this hardware, so I suggest the chance this could be bugging me , bevcause I know my system uses the same pci bus for the sound a software modem and the pci implementation and until I see the usb subsystem its based on to the pci bus...

    .... :huh: messy right? I dont think this usb bug be due the fact I use a no working driver deigned for another distro,,,and it the end it was configurated to be adapted to this parameters...but anyway Im open to suggestions and thank for take your time to look around this jerk bug.

    dunno if was the entire file because at the beginnig I saw much lines of ALSA because I conflicts with the soundcard (would be this is related? its an al861 of realtek using the hdaintel core of alsa but dont works, ask this because I think its using the same bus as the usb line think!!!)

    Hi there again, I have a serious issue with the 2007 mdv , The usb driver used by these isnt working, it has the next specs

    Each and every usb device attached to the system goes down in a certain time, a printer after 5 pages dies, the usb flash and hdd disks via an ide-usb connector dies after few megas of transfer , a scanner when reading half page freezes, it simply stop working, al of this has been poved on other linux distros as FC 4 mdv 2006 and even windows and its does works (the laptop system as well works fine in windows and works with each and every device too).

    I ve cheked my fstbab and the system does not mention the device (it was shows as /dev/hdd before, but now doesnt appear) and I would take the suggestion of recreate the partition but the problem its at full of documents and my entire life its there, because my degree thesis its there (jeje) and give me no time to make a backup on something. And the rescue mode of can acces this?
