I'll close this thread, so we don't get confused. :)

paul does use gentoo :P
Now you've confessed, I've had to move it... :P

System - Configuration - KDE - Peripherals - Mouse - General - Icons.
Welcome to the board. :)
-
Totovich - I've merged your two threads to prevent confusion. :)

i need to dual boot from 2 seperate hard drives, and need to know how to actually get into lilo and what the 'exact' commands are to type and how to re-save the new settings.
someone did tell me but it didnt work. maybe his spelling was wrong or something.
enolagay - I have merged your new topic into the old one. It doesn't help to start a new thread when you still have another one running on the same topic.

This died, it was meant to be unpinned but hasnt.
Done. :P

Thanks, taliesinangelus. I was the one who moved it to the Lighting section...
If anyone's unhappy with the decision, please pm me, rather than raise it in the thread.

Hmmm
Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum. I wasn't paying much attention and posted it in installing Mandrake instead of Hardware :/
No problem - welcome to the board. B)

Chris - now I'm home, I've found that gnomesu is not installed by default. If you go to http://rpm.pbone.net and click on one of the i586 rpms, you should be prompted to open it with the Software Installer. Opt to install rather than just download, and accept the offer of the dependencies, then you should be set.
Gnomesu now works for me. :)
This method is just for installing odds and sods that aren't included in your usual sources. Have you set up urpmi using easyurpmi? If not, I suggest you read our urpmi faq.

Chris, there's no need to log out of Gnome. Just login to Gnome as a normal user, click on the terminal icon, type gnomesu nautilus, enter the root password, and you can use Nautilus as root. When you leave Nautilus (or any other application you choose with gnomesu), you revert to being a normal user.

7. Can I distribute Commercial Products for free?
No. Certain third party software, not governed by a free software license, is bundled with commercial products. Additionally, you may not use the Mandrakesoft name, trademarks and logos (which is our business responsibility to protect), without prior agreement.
17. I represent a business or organization which is interested in Mandrakelinux. Can I install a single Commercial Product on all of my machines? If you need to install Mandrakelinux on several units, we have a special program which offers attractive prices and premium access to cutting-edge solutions. With the « Personalized Solutions and Maintenance Program » (PSMP), you gain access to volume prices (one license per site), support, maintenance and updates. Please get in touch with us for further details on PSMP.

If you chose to install Documentation, go to More Applications - Documentation - Mandrakelinux documentation in English, then choose the Command Line Manual: this has a lot of useful information, including the directory structure. If you don't have it installed, you can read it here.
If it only took 30 mins to get your speedtouch working, you're already something of a guru... B)

Try this: open a console. In it type "su" and then the root password. Then type MCC. This should start the Mandrake Control Center. It will help determine if the system is at issue or just the gui.
That's mcc (lower case)... B)

Welcome to the board. :)
I've never had to change my root password, but chage would seem to be the command to use.
My settings are as follows -
[root@plus steve]# chage -l root Minimum: 0 Maximum: 99999 Warning: 7 Inactive: -1 Last Change: Jul 21, 2004 Password Expires: Never Password Inactive: Never Account Expires: Never [root@plus steve]#

(also mods, should this be a new post?)
No, you're ok. :)

I am sorry for the unorganized text. I did indent, but after I added my post, they didn't show up.
It looks perfectly acceptable as it is, but if you use the CODE button to insert code tags around your outputs, they should come out right. Putting in your own indents doesn't usually work, as the board software has its own way of dealing with white space. :)

You have to buy a pack to get the latest documentation, but you can see the official guides for 10.0 here.

See this post by anon.

The link you've given is inaccessible. To access the documentation, you can use http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/fdoc.php3.
