Please help if you can. I downloaded ati radeon driver for ati 9600 series, and installed it in mdk 9.2, unfortunately it did not work at all. Really i am sad and thinking of using another linux distro. I apreciate any help. Thank you.

I have installed mdk 9.2 but unfortunately it did not recognize my nvidia geforce mx2 400. When I login as a root and run XFdrake, I see the proper settings (generic nvidia DDR, HP 1199A 21 monitor) but XFdrake gives the following error:
An error occured:
(EE). Unable to determine the screen layout. Try to change parameters.
I downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run file but I still get the same message: nvidia is not precompiled in kernel. Does it mean that every user should RECOMPILE the KERNEL in order to make md 9.2 package usable for x server. Is not it comical ? :woops:

I installed mdk 9.2 using nvidia geforce 2 mx 400 video card. Unfortunately I can not set drakconf to recogonize my video driver. It says that there is not precompiled nvidia driver in kernel. How can I solve this problem.

I like mdk linux very much. It is not disputed, that it's the world's best end-user linux distro, which focus on people demands, taking thier remarks in consideration. Among a lot of linux distros including hancom linux for arabic edition, mandrake was proved to be the best.
First mdk linux9.2 rc2 is still having a lot of bugs, which should be corrected, for this reason mdk linux 9.2 rc3 must have isssued to be tested by all people to make it as perfect as it they could.
Finally mdk linux 9.2 is an enhanced and proved mdk linux 9.1. I feel the look-and-feel of windows xp is the best in spite that it is not a good operating system. Keep in mind that people are eager to use mdk linux products, and their remarks are very valuable. We are waitig for the moment, when linux will be thge no. one desktop operating system all over the world.

Hi people!
Who tried to ftp under mdk 9.2rc2? I have tried to ftp but unfortunately it has been unsuccessful. I tried to adjust the firewall, enabling ftp, dns, but all these attembts were hopeless. Any help is advancely appreciated.

run gftp and tried to connect to ftp server using mdk 9.2rc2. Unfortunately, the connection always failed. I tried to adjust the Firewall using mcc. No change. pro-ftpd is running, and I still not seenig the ftp server I want to connect to.

Again and again. mdk 9.2 beta and rcx all are BETAS. Really I'm disgusted of such thing. Mandrake Linux Installlation tools are undoubtly the best, but it it's not enough stable as debian linux. Seriously I'm sad, because mandrakesoft does not carefully test its packages. I have talked to lot of people who emphasize that if debian is being shiped with mdk install tools, it would be the world most powerful Linux package, is not it?

Really is it needed to mkinitrd? I have reconfigured the already used kernel-2.4.21-0.13mdk. I just changed the proccesor type(P4). Then I gave the followings: make dep clean bzImage. After that : make modules modules_install. Igave these commands:
cp /usr/src/linux/../bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-new
cp /usr/src/linux/System.map /boot/System.map-new
rm /boot/vmlinuz #remove the soft link
rm /boot/System.map #remove the soft link
ln -s /boot/vmlinuz-new /boot/vmlinuz
ln -s /boot/System.map-new /boot/System.map
And made this in LILO, and run lilo -v . The system did not run. I think the initrd is the responsible. Please help me. Where Should I Have Given the command mkinitrd with the appropriate arguments. Thank You.

I have bought mdk 9.1 power pack, shiped with kernel 2.4.21-0.13mdk. I have installed the new kernel 2.4.21-0.18mdk issued from mandrake. Unfortunately my system starts up in text(console) mode, not in graphical mode. When I tried to execute the script startx I was told that nvidia driver does not existed. Really what hapened to my system. I just gave the command:
rpm -Uvh newkernel.rpm
No more. The new kernel was kernel-2.4.21-0.18mdk.rpm.
Please help.

I did not see kde 3.1.2 for mdk 9.1 at kde ftp server (/pub/kde/stable/3.1.2/. I have bought mdk9.1 power pack for about 82 us $. I have heard that I can download or get kde 3.1.2 for mdk from mandrake club. It means I should pay once again a lot of us dollars. Is it fair? I have already mentioned that the Management of Mandrake is very weak. More care SHOULD BE TAKEN in this field. Thank You.

I have updated my mdk 9.1 from within mcc rpm packages update. Unfortunately, after rebooting my system I could not start my window manager due to a lot of missing or overwritten lib files. I was a big fault that I used Mandrake Control Center to update my packages from a mirror ftp server. I often used rpm -Fvh *rpm to just updates those packages I have already installed on my system, and I did not experienced any problem or system CRASH. Please help, cause I don't like to reinstall my mdk 9.1 like Microsoft products. THANK YOU.

I downloaded kde 3.1.1a from one mandrake-cooker ftp server. I have experienced the next:
my kde desktop fonts were changed. Besides, when i loged out the ONLY WINDOW MANAGER was the KDE!!! Where are the other window mangaer. Any way this was the begining of the sad story. In the login list there were a lot of users I have not picked up, not only the two users i selected e.g.É user1 and user2. My qestion is from where did you download kde 3.1.1a? and why is there no kde 3.1.1 at KDE OFFICIAL ftp server? THANK YOU
