  9. @michael: thanks for the reply... but I have even removed the shorewall service but stiill i couldn't ping from windows box to linux... the logic is, if i can't even ping my linux box, then the proxy wont work right? now i have to do something so that windows box can recognize the linux network somehow...
  10. guys please help this is the condition: I built a Linux proxy server using Squid. I had 2 LAN Cards on it. the first one, connected to Switch [Local Area, IP 192.168.9.213]. the second one, connected to ADSL Modem, IP 192.168.254.2] Now I can ping out from Linux to Windows XP Client [segment 192.168.9.xx] BUT I cannot ping from Windows to Linux...therefore, if I enter IP 192.168.9.213 as my proxy server at windows client, it won't connect to the Internet... I have started samba service, though I don't know how to configure my firewall. do I configure the shorewall? here's the network config for the first network card [Local Area] IP : 192.168.9.213 Mask : 255.255.255.0 Gateway: - [ADSL] - Second network card IP : 192.168.254.2 Mask : 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.254.254
  11. Yes, i've entered 192.168.9.158 to my other machines (Windows) as the primary DNS server but i still couldn't find it... do i have mistakes here?
  12. hi, guys... please help... I'm using Mandriva 2006 and currently on the trial to DNS server using bind here's my configuration: - /etc/named.conf: zone "e-doc.co" in { type master; file "db.e-doc.co"; allow-update {none;}; }; zone "9.168.192.in-addr.arpa" in{ type master; file "rev.e-doc.co"; allow-update {none;}; }; - db.e-doc.co: @IN NS NS1.e-doc.co @IN NS NS2.e-doc.co e-document in A 192.168.9.14 - /etc/resolv.conf: search e-doc.co nameserver 127.0.0.1 I have an application running on 192.168.9.14 [Windows XP], and my DNS server is running on 192.168.9.158 [Linux Mandriva 2006]. If I tried on 9.158 on the firefox and I enter: http://e-document and it worked. BUT, if I try that on 192.168.9.xxx [other IP address but the same segment], it wont show up... can somebody please point my mistake? Thanks
