  1. Here's where texstar actually explains it.. http://www.pclinuxonline.com/modules.php?m...ic=1542&forum=7
  2. Yes that is an issue that is easily resolvable until texstar adds that support back into the base rpm..Which according to his forum is next on his list..:) Anyways there is an easy fix until he does.. right click desktop click on Create New ---> Link to Location(url) ---> then in the file name space Type the name such as DVD Rom then on the space for Enter link to location type /mtn/cdrom where cdrom is the mount point for your cdrom. If you have a second cdrom like a cd burner it most likely will be at /mnt/cdrom2. Floppy would be /mnt/floppy. Then you can mount any others you wish using the same general idea. You can check that via Konqueror by browsing to the /mnt folder.
  3. http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php That site will help you setup your urpmi. Then you can use the mcc to add software and you can type "tex" into the search window and it will bring up most all of texstats rpm's..
  4. Once you setup your urpmi with texstars repository you can do a straight upgrade to kde 3.1.2 using urpmi.
  5. Tex only makes mdk rmp's now days as far as I can tell...I havne't seen any new suse rpm's since last year and no rh rpm's either...

    Gnome 2.3.x

Anyone know if there are any mdk rpms for the latest devel of gnome, or do you have to just download source and install via source or make your own rpms?
  8. Actually you can install RH9 packages in JAMD. You just have to edit your sources.list file in /etc/apt/ You can read all about apt for rh at http://freshrpms.net/apt/ and you can goto www.pclinuxonline.com and find several RH apt repositories you can add. The only thing you lose is the i686 optimizations. The only way to get any of the development packages is using RH9 packages.
  9. Ok I really feel like a noob... Ok here's what I had to do in order to get Kylix to even install.. ../setup.sh -m The install directions that comes with it didn't work and I found this on the newgroups....Oh well atleast problem is solved.. Maybe this will help someone else who is having issues installing Kylix3.
  10. bah about all I am getting and I am to lazy to try em all is 2.4 Mbps...:P
  11. Yeah I did as tyme said. The installer comes up and all but starts install and I get the good old error: -10 looked up on borlands site and tried the 2 things they listed and still no go. So I tossed them a trouble ticket about it. Waiting to see if I get a response and what kind.. Heck I even went as far as a complete reinstall of MDK... They say that error -10 has something to do with the local with mdk but mine matches what they say it should.. All the deps check out and so forth but who knows....
  12. I need this file in order to install Kylix. I can't seem to find this file anywhere on my system. So I need to figure out what package or where to get the file.. Anyone that can help would be great.
  13. I need a good ssh client. I run KDE but I don't want to install the KDE network package just for the gui ssh front end. Anyways toss me some ideas on a ssh frontend I can run in kde... I know gnome telnet has ssh support but I don't want to install all the gnome stuff it needs..
  14. Open KDE Control Center click on Components then select File Associations. That should let you adjust any file associations.
  15. Basically KDE and Gnome function the same. They just look different and use a different core library. KDE uses QT libs where as Gnome uses GTK libs.. Other then that it's mainly eye candy and different setup and tools and so forth. I haven't ever really used Gnome to a great extent but it's not as feature rich from my initial tryout as KDE is. In KDE I can easily change things faster then I could in Gnome. Mainly I think it's a personal preference. Infact there aare more option the using KDE or Gnome. They are both Desktop Environments.I did find that in some cases Gnome was abit faster with some apps then kde and vice versa. You can also use just window managers such as fluxbox which is a very nice one I might add.. You can use enlightenment which can also replace Gnomes default window manager..:) So there's really no easy way to explain the differences.. My suggestion is install both use both and then decide which one you like best..:)
  16. Welp downloaded and isntalled this last night on my pc at home. I have to say the install was very easy and very painless.. It loads much faster then the 1.0.2... Even has better support for MS Office generated docs...So far I am really impressed with it.

    Gaim .65

Have anyone seen an MDK rpm for this yet?
  18. Cool I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't over write my existing version. Since it's just an rc release I don't want to completely remove my existing version. I am grabbin it now...
  19. couple of nifty apps to use to be able to read hotmail with evolution.... http://hotwayd.sourceforge.net/ http://mrpostman.sourceforge.net/ The second one is a java based one. Basically they are both suppose to allow you to receive hotmail email within evolution.
  20. Does the installer install over the default mdk install of 1.0.2 and upgrade it?
  21. Well I downloaded cd1 iso of that EduLinux which is basically mdk 9.1 it had the 4 rpm's I needed to upgrade my 1.0.2 of Openoffice to 1.0.3.. So far it's works great and seems to be no issues. Now that's not to say there won't be but I guess I'll find out. Anyways that's what I did since I have yet to see an official mdk rom released..

    Apt question

This has instructions for the redhat version on doing something similare with the rh cd's... HJere's suse's apt help page....http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ official apt for rpm homepage is https://moin.conectiva.com.br/AptRpm A little slow but I think it may answer that question... Hope those links help I don't know enough about apt to really help but those are links I used for aptrpm.
  23. I don't know if this is worth mentioning but the OpenOffice.org files on the cd's of this offspring does work in upgrading standard 1.0.2 that comes with mdk 9.1. I just pulled the 4 needed rpm's off the cd and installed them using rpm -Fvh and all is well and good..Easy way of upgrading to the latest OpenOffice on MDk 9.1...
  24. Could be I think once a couple mirrors pop up I may download it and try it out.. Heck I've tried almost every other distro out there so why not another...:)
  25. Is there really any difference between it and standard MDK 9.1? Based on the site seems they updated packages such as open office 1.0.3 and such...
