  1. Excellent! getting a bit closer :) ok, I navigate to the "Microsoft Money>System" Folder and type wine msmoney.exe - following are errors generated: fixme:actctx:CreateActCtxW stub! err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {2e53a0a1-cfc9-11d4-8c9c-0050dad32d95} not registered err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {2e53a0a1-cfc9-11d4-8c9c-0050dad32d95} could be created for for context 0x1
  2. What I have done exactly is open a terminal, login as SU, navigate to the money folder and type wine setup.exe - I get a few of the installation screens, and then it finishes saying install was finished un-expectedly (or something along those lines) Anyway, I'll try your suggestion and copy the dirs accross to the wine install. The only question I have there is what about registry entries? I have tried looking at some linux based aps - ie. GNUcash & Grisbi - but havent found them to be what I need. I am also experiencing problems navigating to the 'My Documents' & 'Program Files" folders in my wine installation through a terminal window "Konsole" I believe its something to do with the space?? which makes it difficult to enter the wine money.exe command from the install dir...
  3. Hello again, I was hoping someone could help me. I am a noob so please be nice!! :) I use MS Money fairly extensively, and have about 5 years worth of data that I would like to retain. I have tried to install it after setting up wine (and installing IE6 with help from 'Sidenet') I am getting no-where fast. Has anyone got any of the above Money versions working with Wine (preferably on a version of Mandriva) and, if so, what are the steps taken to get it working? Also, how can I provide more information in order to ascertain where the install is falling over? Thanks in advance!
  4. aha! Many thanks :) it works!!! And, it fixed another little problem I was having with Fonts. Thanks for your help!
  5. Hi all, Hoping someone could guide me in the right direction here! I am a noob, and I feel a little out of my depth, but I will persist until I get this right! :) I want to migrate across to Mandriva completely as I am fedup with Windows for a number of reasons. I do have a few programs that I want to be able to run though which is why I am setting up wine. I have installed wine, and have tried installing IE6 every different way I can think of! I followed the information on Franks Corner I have also tried the install via IEs4Linux & WINEHQ but the install always falls over. I know that its most likely something I'm missing. I don't know where the install process is crashing exactly, but I'm sure if someone can talk me through it I can provide the information. Hoping someone can help!
  6. Hey thanks - i'll remeber that for future reference. I did manage to fix it though - it was faulty/dodgy media - last time I buy the dodgy brothers special! Thanks all for your help though.
  7. the CD boots up and gives me the option to install etc. If I transfered the ISO onto the CD without actually creating the CD from the ISO then it shouldn't boot? Like I said, I checked the file structure of the CD once it was burnt -> could browse contents of most files/folders. I'm now trying a burn on some new media, will see how that performs
  8. Hi all, Am becoming frustrated! I cant get Mandriva LE to install! What I have done thus far: -Downloaded 3xISO files & checked md5 sums (all correct) -Burnt to CD all 3 ISOs twice (on 2 different CD burners at 4x) -Checked that CD's were readable with correct file structure -Tried installing on 3 different computers. I think that somewhere between checking the md5 sums and burning the images to CD I am doing something wrong. Perhaps its the CD's?? Here is one thing I've noticed when opening the CDs after burning them - if I try to open a file such as the index.htm or README.txt I just get a blank page. If I extract them from the ISO they will open properly - but not off the freshly created CD, which would indicate either 1) Bad Media or 2) Bad burn. I am using NERO v6 to create CDs, I d/l'd and installed ISORecorder (http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm) and tried to create again, but kept getting error displayed... I am just about to d/l and try Mandriva 2006, would rather not have to as yet. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!
  9. Hey! Thanks heaps for your help, thanks also for all the replys - sorry for my late reply, i have been away on a holiday for the last week. I replaced the "fbdev" with "vesa" and it fixed the problem straight away. Thanks! :D
  10. Oops! Sorry, it is the official version - when typing the prob I wasnt sure which it was that I installed - courtesy of reburning about 4 sets of various versions I had in order to at least install 1 that worked!! (had all sorts of install problems due to faulty CDROM drive) Anyways, am still sorting out this screen problem following is the config (taken when attempting to increase resolution to 1280x1024): # File generated by XFdrake. # ********************************************************************** # Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of # this file. # ********************************************************************** Section "Files" # Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together) # By default, Mandrake 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of # the X server to render fonts. 11. I am having an issue with my recent installation of Mandrake 10 (Community). When I increase the screen size to over 1024X768 the screen will wrap over itself. When the mouse gets to the right end of the screen and you keep going, it appears on the left side for ~ 300 pixels. I.e. it is drawing the screen in 800x600, it is just making up for the portion it cannot display by recycling itself. HW stats: * Monitor - IBM 6556 P72 * Graphics Card - Hercules terminator 4000x (Kyro chipset). I know that both the Card & the Monitor can support up to 1280x1024 as I was doing so under Windows XP. Has anyone come accross this problem before? Is there any more information that I need to supply? Thanks!
  12. Hi Arctic, Thanks heaps for your help! I solved the problem - am pretty sure it was a combination of a dodgy installation and a (possibly) faulty NIC. I was also having problems setting up Samba to browse my XP box - sometimes i could see it, sometimes I couldnt. And, when I could see it, I could never actually browse its shared folders. I was checking out the network settings and noticed that the MAC address of the NIC was ff:ff:ff:ff figured that it was possibly faulty - so, threw in a new one, and, just to be on the safe side re-installed the OS. I have now got the network running so that I can connect to the internet thru the XP box, and I can browse its shared folders. I am now in the process of updating the Media manager thru the easyurpmi (?) website!! Thanks again!
  13. Thanks for your reply, problem is still there tho. Firewall is disabled and security level set to "Poor" I have added ISPs DNS to the resolv.conf file, but still havent been able to get the browser to display webpages. Is there any settings in the browser that I should be looking at?
  14. Hi all, i've recently taken the plunge and am migrating accross to linux after spending all my computing life on windows - so far I'm having a blast! :D I have 2 problems that I'm trying to resolve and have been quite stuck (will just work on 1 for the time being!) I have installed Mandrake 10.1 community & am trying to connect to the internet through an XP box running ICS. I have assigned a static IP: 192.168.0.50, I know the connection is alive as I can ping www.google.com I just cant access any web pages on Konqueror (keep getting a timeout error) I've setup the internet connection to use 192.168.0.1 as Gateway & DNS, I turned IPV6 off by adding "alias net-pf-10 off" in modprobe.conf - and am still having the same trouble. I am not sure where to look next and am hoping someone could set me in the right direction!
