  1. You can probably get it installed by removing the spring-data-0.74-0.b1.1mdv2007.1 package and installing the new one.

I guess this is the problem :

    [root@localhost spring_0.74b3]# urpmq -f spring

    spring-0.74-0.b2.2mdv2007.1.i586

    [root@localhost spring_0.74b3]# urpmq -f spring-data

    spring-data-0.74-0.b1.1mdv2007.1.noarch

    [root@localhost spring_0.74b3]#

Spring is b2.2 version where spring-data is b1.1!!!

    What a bug!

    :deal:

  2. So far here is the output I get :

    [root@localhost stephane]# urpmi spring-0.74-0.b2.2mdv2007.1.i586

I am trying on Ubuntu as well which at least installs the game, the I get a "no maps" error later on which might just be a case of putting the right files in the right directory.

I was hoping Artificial Intelligence to give that a try .... ;)

  3. OK I was wrong it's on the System tab and the traffic light icon. Choose the login manager. There you should see the available options and Entrance among them.

Indeed it is, I did the little change but mdv does not like it at all, it took me back to the black screen's login. I did startx and will keep kdm for now until I figure out what when wrong...

  4. Hi, I was playing with E17 and noticed the "entrance" program, very eye candy graphic display manager. How can I configure mandriva so that entrance kicks in when I start instead of the default mandriva/kde stuff?

  5. Hi,

I am a constant mandriva user and therefore am quite "militant" of the linux cause. As I m a boy, I like my toys, two of which are zaurus sl-5500 and zaurus c-860.

    http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/?q=node/694

    and

    http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/?q=node/717

you can see my zaurus with a mandriva skin on. I am still working on the c-860 so that might wait until the may version of "show your desktop"

    at this site :

    http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/

you will find a petition for sharp to keep producing and inovating in the linux pdas, please have a read and sign it if you feel it s not too much for a Sunday!

The site will describe to you how powerful this little machines are. I use mine to remotely access and update my mandriva, browse comfortably the net etc... I can run programs under X like the Gimp, Firefox etc. You have a vast choice of programs and ditros (called ROMs) etc.. Of course one can watch videos and listen to music. I found mine a really good way to improve my command line skills as well as m understanding of wi-fi conections.

I am so "into it" that my dvd of mdv2007 spring edition is still sat untouched on me desk!

    Thanks for reading,

  6. Does anyone know a nice scrabble game under linux (and please not the one runnong in the shell...)

I think pyscrabble is online multiplayer only? Is that what you want?

There's the game xscrabble, it's fairly simple to build. You need xscrabble and xscrabble_en (or xscrabble_fr) to make it work:

    ftp://ftp.ac-grenoble.fr/ge/educational_games/

if you have any problems let me know.

    Thanx, ill try that tomorrow!

  7. Hi

Am trying to install a program called pyscrabble but it exists only from source and I m no expert for that.

  8. Hi,

Is it that complicated for the people at Mnadriva to port the 2007.1 to a USB key. I don't understand why they release a product now with an already old version?

Mind you I like the product itself and I think it is almost well priced (although I m not sure a novice to linux would try it out for £60).

  9. ..I haven t be able to add apps on the bar yet, any input welcome.
Engage uses EAP icon files in ~/.e/e/applications/all. You can also download EAP files from this site, just check the main menu on the left. One can also edit EAP files with e_util_eapp_edit if you have e_utils (e17/apps/e_utils) and Engrave (e17/libs/engrave) installed. Please see the icons section of this guide for more in-depth information. After you've created some EAP files and moved them to ~/.e/e/applications/all, you'll need to create a ".order" text file in ~/.e/e/applications/bar/engage. This directory doesn't exist by default and isn't created by default - you'll have it make it. The ".order" file is simply a list of EAP files in the order you want them to show up in the bar. Check the "Icons and the menu" section for examples. You can also drag EAP files to Engage from Evidence and from the e_utils_eapp_edit icon. There's also a graphical menu editor called Entangle in the e_utils package - it can manage Engage menus as well. Check the "Binary formats, icon files and the menu" section for details
From here. Both the E17 User Guide and EFL User Guide can be of great help with E-17, along with that whole website.

Excellent, I did have that page but was too lazy to work on it (sorry I m French...). What I couldn't understand is that my .order file was prepopulated but only 3 icons were showing. In fact after editing them I found that the application commands were not configured for mdv ie openoffice was the command for Ooo instead of ooffice2.0.

I m going back to it, thanks for the push!

  10. :jester:

Yes, excellent design, I ve been playing for 30 mins on one of the servers and it rocks. Very much like Quake arena indeed, the only thing is the sound works fine until the server kicks in then goes off, I ll have to look into that.

Any ideas if they will do a single player mission?

    Stef (impressed!).

  11. Waoww, very nice

Here is mine, nothing amazing, just note I m trying to play with E17 on Mandriva, I haven t be able to add apps on the bar yet, any input welcome.

I ve been playing with basket as well, I think I m going to use more of it from now on...

As always, a screenshot of my zaurus as well (vnc)...

  12. Hi,

I did a fresh install on mandriva on a spare partition, making space on larger one for the incoming spring release (counting the days...). I installed most of my stuff but I can't manage to install the game warzone 2100. I can'remember having any trouble installing it on my other mdv2007 which still works.

Here is a printout of the command line:

    [root@localhost stephane]# urpmi warzone
Some requested packages cannot be installed:
    warzone2100-2.0.4-5mdv2007.0.i586 (due to unsatisfied warzone2100-data[== 2.0.4])
    Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) y
    [root@localhost stephane]# urpmi warzone2100-data
    no package named warzone2100-data
    [root@localhost stephane]#

    Any ideas would be welcome!

  13. Hi

I ve been trying Enlightenment DR17 (E17) as a window manager and I must say it's great.

    A few questions though:

1- Is anyone usig it on a regular basis?

2- Does anyone know how to make entrance my default start DM?

3- are there any distros better with it than others?

4-Is it a beta vesion still?

    Thanks!

  14. The zauras' are pretty cool little systems. when i had mine, i replaced the OS on it with Open Zaurus and Opie (it comes packaged with open zaurus). that made it a bit more powerful since there's a lot of OSS software out there that you can get through open zaurus' package system. However, if the installation is still the same method as they used before, it's not for the faint of heart :)

Which Zaurus did you have? I find it interresting as I can take my linux cookbook and the zaurus and do some command line training...

Here I ve added a few shots of my mandriva beeing updated from command line from the zaurus...

    I just Love it!

  15. Hi!

I am back after a lottle while, I was busy tweaking with my tungsten T3 runnning gpe (linux), then I bought a zaurus sl-5500+wifi from ebay so here is a piccie of both my desktops for this month!

On it we have England-France on Kaffeine (DVB) (TNT for Frenchies...) and on the right is my VNC connection to the zaurus (kernel 2.4.18. qtopia 1.5.0, opera 6.0...). it a real gem, I can control my Linux box from my garden, I am working on an attachment (craddle-like) of the zaurus onto me lawn mower...

I like very much the piccie from cybermoron so I coppied and put a side bar with mini applets on it.

I run Beryl since a couple of month now, I could nt do without, It is NOT an eye candy only, it really helps me to juggle between applications.

    Stef :D
