  1. HP V40 seems to work well. using Ghostscript +hpijs driver. Well so far so good. Thanks for the help. :D
  2. Yes, it supports both. On install it should detect them and put a line in your lilo.conf something like append=ide-scsi ide1=0x9400 etc (I can't remember exactly) which enables the kernel to find the controller. To set it up as raid I suggest that you look at the Raid howto and the booting Raid controller minihowto.
  3. I tried the hpijs -rss driver as recommended in Mandrake for the 6110 and the 990c as I had heard that the 6110 was similar to that one, but all it did was spit out a blank page at me in disgust. I can print monochrome with the plain officejet driver. I suppose I could go through trying out every recent printer emulation but that could take a bit of time. I wonder how much difference there is in the code between different HP drivers. I'm sure HP wouldn't want to reinvent the wheel each time they produce a new printer. :?
  4. I have just bought an HP officejet 5110 which connects by usb. It appears to be too new to have a driver available in Mandrake 9.0. I can get black and white output via the officejet driver, but no colour. The Linux hardware database seems to have disappeared into a black hole since zdnet took it over so difficult to check out drivers. Does anybody know of a printer that it emulates just to get some basic colour output. If anyone knows of the current whereabouts of the Linux Hardware Database I would be grateful also.
