Guest flummoxed
I have a Pinnacle pctv rave tv card - unfortunately without documentation. The card has EMPTVY 51012969-1.4 written on the side. When I run kdetv or Xawtv I can tune in the channels, but the only sound I get is a hiss (static). I have a cable running from the tv card to the sound card (have tried plugging directly into tvcard-out, but with the same result). The card works fine in windows and I get sound in Linux running all other software. I suspect i have a problem with the bttv drivers, but that is as far as I can get. This seems to be quite a common problem , but after much Googling I haven't found any consistant approach to solving it. Any help would be much appreciated. Running Mandrake 2005 LE M'board is Asus A7N8X Deluxe (onboard sound) [moved from Software by spinynorman] Edited July 8, 2005 by flummoxed

Guest flummoxed
Hurray for me! Houston, I have sound! All ? I had to do was add the line: options tda9887 pal=i in /etc/modprobe.conf and reboot. I think I have quite a common card and have seen other references to the same problem, so I hope this helps someone.
