dangermouse_1974 Posted November 30, 2003 Share Posted November 30, 2003 Hi Has anyone succeeded yet installing Mandrake 9.1 PPC on an iBook G4 ? If so, I would dearly like to hear from you as: a) The graphic installer doesn't work (probably can't detect the Mobility Radeon 9200 correctly) AND B) The text mode installer doesn't work either (crashes around the point it detects the keyboard) If anyone has any insights into these problems, I would GREATLY appreciate it. ezroller Posted November 30, 2003 Share Posted November 30, 2003 Hey man, glad to sere you made it! there is an option you have to pass to the kernel at boot. this worked for me on my tibook: install-gui-benh text see if that helps at all. Unfortunately, when I go that route, the installer fails when looking for the keyboard (something along those lines).....all I get is an error and then the system shuts down. The closest I got was using the 'old' gui and specifying 'radeonfb'....X did start up but I got what looked like 2 images interleaved with one another (couldn't hardly see what was going on).
