Solidus Posted November 8, 2003 Report Share Posted November 8, 2003 OK, i'm a newbie, i've installed linux 8.2 on my 2nd pc, it runs fine but i was offered mandrake linux ot try out, the problem lies with the installation. when i use the boot disk made via rawrite via windows, it boots ok, it then looks for the cd rom device, then when its found the first disk of linux 9.1 (mdk) it spits it out and says this disk might does not have the installation blah blah blah. i've never encountered this problem with the previous version of linux before. version info mdk linux 8.2 -> i386 mdk linux 9.1 -> i586 can anyone help me? MottS Posted November 8, 2003 Report Share Posted November 8, 2003 Hi Solidus Welcome on the board man ! Why did you create a boot disk to install MDK 9.1 ? You can boot of the cd no problem. aRTee Posted November 9, 2003 Report Share Posted November 9, 2003 Also, I hope you checked the md5sums of the iso's and that you burnt your discs the correct way, i.e. not just burn the iso to disc but used the function 'burn cdr from image'. Pzatch Posted November 10, 2003 Report Share Posted November 10, 2003 If you made the boot disk from the 8.2 files then that could be you're problem. Use the boot disk file from the 9.1 disk.
